HV Power Customer Newsletter - July 2024

What's new?

It's been a while since our last newsletter and a lot has been happening. HV Power has just turned 30, we have launched a new NZ website and introduced a new company logo. Siemens have announced the end-of-line for some products. Carry on reading to find out more.

HV Power turns 30

HV Power turned 30 years old on 4 July 2024, and celebrated this with an evening function with current staff, past staff, customers and local and overseas suppliers. Thank you to those who were able to attend.

Both the ‘H’ and ‘V’ of HV Power (Alan Hatfield and Geoff Vaughan) were present with speeches being given by founding member Geoff Vaughan and current directors Mike Strong and Warwick Beech.

The past 30 years of success were celebrated. acknowledging how the company has grown and adapted over the years. Warwick then unveiled a new logo to take us into the next 30 years.

New website

Take a look at HV Power's new NZ website (www.hvpower.co.nz). This also features the new logo.

We are still adding new content and information from our old site, but we have gone live as we passed the point where the new site was better than the old one. There is still work to do to add and refine the resources section and replace the old Service Provider information.

The new site is mobile-friendly and has a new content management system behind the scenes to allow us to update faster, add ‘news’ items faster and to keep our Training Calander up to date. So please have a look at www.hvpower.co.nz, and keep coming back to get the latest news and product information.

We feature new suppliers UGA (cable seals) and Greenwood-Power (LPITs). These relationships were finalised during Mike's and Warwick’s April European supplier visits.

SIPROTEC 4 cancellation

30 September 2024

The SIPROTEC 4 Series goes to end-of-line on 30 September 2024. From then, no more orders will be accepted at the factory. If you want to order full relays to hold as spares, now is your time to get ordering. (Some products have already been obsoleted.)

The good news is that SIPROTEC 5 covers all the SIPROTEC 4 applications. The setting migration tools allowing makes upgrading a lot easier.

Contact us for more information.

30-9-2024 is a final date, so if you want to order a spare relay you must do so before then!

End-of-line 7SJ80 and 7SJ81

Siemens have announced that SIPROTEC Compact 7SJ80, 7SJ81, 7SK80, 7SK81 and 7RW80 will be phased out, with the products available up to 30 September 2026.

The 7SD82 (SIPROTEC 4 Compact Line Differential Relay) remains available.

In place of the 7SJ80, we recommend the SIPROTEC 5 Compact Universal 7SX800. It’s the same size and covers the same functions. It's an upgraded relay using DIGSI 5 rather than DIGSI 4. See more information on the SIPROTEC 5 7SX800.

In place of the 7SJ81, we recommend the 7SY82 SIPROTEC 5 relay. The 7SY82 is twice the width of the 7SJ81, but is compliant with the existing LPIT standards, with software selection between air cored (Rogowski sensors) and LPCT iron cored sensors. See more information on the SIPROTEC 5 7SY82.
