Meet HSLM RVTs: Matt & Erin!
Registered Veterinary Technologist and Technician (RVTs) are essential members of veterinary medicine.

Now in its fourth year, RVT Month aims to promote, celebrate, and recognize the thousands of RVTs working across Canada in clinics, hospitals, animal shelters, and beyond.

We’d like to introduce you to our exceptional RVTs at HSLM who are helping keep the 200+ animals healthy and happy every day.

Matt and Erin (aka the "dynamic duo") are both incredibly skilled and hardworking individuals, however what truly sets them apart is their compassion and willingness to go above and beyond for each animal in our care!
"A typical day for an HSLM RVT involves examining, vaccinating, de-worming, and medicating the animals within the shelter. We also book medical procedures, including spay and neuter surgeries, with veterinary clinics in preparation for them to be adopted. Additionally, we educate our adopters about any health concerns with their new family member, as well as answer any questions they may have regarding pet ownership and veterinary care."
-Matt, HSLM RVT
"Something that brings a smile to my face everyday is the length we go to for so many animals. We are able to provide the necessary medical care for these animals when their owners couldn't. We provide countless animals with entropion repairs, amputations, dental surgeries, enucleations and lump removals on an annual basis... not to mention the thousands of spays and neuters. I am proud to be a shelter RVT and feel we make a huge impact on the animals in our community. Everyday poses new challenges and victories and I wouldn't have it any other way!"
-Erin, HSLM RVT
Please join HSLM in celebrating RVT Month by expressing
your appreciation to Matt and Erin!
