CREATING LIFELONG RELATIONSHIPST

ECFC is Growing!

This is an exciting time for the club as we are experiencing higher than average growth. We added almost 50 new players from supplemental tryouts and created one new team. We also hired three new coaches to help us with our current needs and allow for future growth.

We understand that this growth is largely due to our commitment to developing players (on and off the field) and providing a quality experience for families, so we are committed to growing responsibly and maintaining these core values. We are being picky and purposeful in who we hire, as these are the people you entrust us to coach and mentor your children.

Two of our girls teams (F07 Green and F11 Green teams) played in Las Vegas over MLK weekend, getting competitive matches and valuable playing experience while enjoying the bonding of a travel trip. Tryouts for high school aged boys born in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 will be held later this month and you can find more details and a registration link below.

Coaching Updates

The club is happy to announce the hiring of 3 new coaches. James Ritchie is a high-level coach who will assume duties with the M13 teams, Dev Program, as well as assisting with goalkeeper training, any technical trainings, and training teams. Scott Smith will be helping in the Dev Program and is an experienced and well-liked coach who returns to ECFC upon his move back to this area. Clyde Wight will begin as an ECFC coach in the Dev Program. Clyde was already connected to ECFC and several coaches so he will fit right in and his positive energy and enthusiasm will be a great match with the younger kids. We are very excited about these hires.

Coach's Corner

The inside of the foot pass (also known as the push pass) is used over shorter distance and gives the passer the most accuracy due to having a large surface area making contact with the ball. However, most players don't know the proper technique to execute this pass. In this edition of Coach's Corner, we go over the proper way to execute the push pass and give you greater accuracy and consistency.

ECFC Overnight Camp

Camp Waskowitz is once again providing us with the overnight summer soccer camp in conjunction with Peter Fewing Soccer Camps. This is a great opportunity for players to get to bond with their teammates and other players by spending 3 nights at Camp Waskowitz in North Bend, WA. This camp is run by a combination of Camp Waskowitz staff, Peter Fewing Soccer Camp staff and coaches, and ECFC coaches. Players will spend time on the fields during each day grooming their skills and tactics, scrimmaging in the evenings, and having a fun summer camp experience at the same time.

This camp is for boys and girls ages 9-17 and friends and siblings of ECFC players who want to join are welcome.

High School Boys Tryouts

Tryouts for high school boys are held prior to the start of the high school soccer in mid-February. However, they will not begin playing until mid-May following high school soccer and allowing for a brief break to rest and recover. Players gone on mid-winter break during this time should register so the club knows they want to be placed on a team and communicate to their coaches that they will be gone.

If you are boy born from 2006-2009, you should register using the link below.

M09 players who are in 8th grade or not playing high school soccer will continue to practice and play some games during the high school soccer season. Their coaches will communicate the plan.

Meet Coach Natalie

Tell us about Yourself

I am from Seattle and grew played for Emerald City FC where I really developed my passion for goalkeeping. I studied Communications, Business, and Law and played Division III soccer at Pacific Lutheran University. After college, I played briefly in Spain, and Norway and then had a drive to get into coaching. I started at other youth clubs in the area until I found a home at ECFC. I now focus on goalkeeping with Alex and coach JV soccer at Lakeside High School.

What inspired you to get into coaching?

Soccer has always been a constant and a love of mine, after so many years of playing I realized that I wanted to learn to love the game in a different way and give that same positive experience to players. Seeing the kids develop and have moments of confidence after working time and time again on something they are struggling with makes the coaching journey all worth the smiles on their faces.

What is your role at ECFC and what does it entail?

I support Alex and the other coaches with developing our club goalkeepers. We have goalkeeper trainings and I also pull some of the goalkeepers away during their team trainings to get some age specific training in.

Why do you coach at ECFC?

I coach at ECFC because we truly have a deep sense of community. The coaches are incredibly supportive of each other and coach skill development which ultimately serves the kids and families in player development and supporting them in achieving their goals.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I learned how to pole vault my senior year of college after soccer ended and I needed a new athletic outlet. Pole vaulting is incredibly fun and difficult at the same item!
