PB&J Blitz Winners!!

Canes Collected 286 Pounds!
Each week during high school football season, The CW Chattanooga televises a game as part of their Friday Night Rivals series. As part of the series, the two competing teams are challenged to compete in a PB&J Food Drive for the Chattanooga Food Bank. East Hamilton students collected enough jars last week (286 pounds in all) to take home bragging rights and $100! We are now eligible to win the grand prize! Way to go Canes!

College Fair

Wednesday, September 5th
There will be a College Fair at Notre Dame High School on Wednesday, September 5th, from 6:30-8:00 PM. There will be a large number of colleges attending this event, so it will be a great way to get your name out there and learn more about what these colleges have to offer. Also, there will be a Financial Aid Workshop at 7:00 PM during this event in the Notre Dame HS Auditorium.

Tech Goes Home Program

Begins September 11th
Would you like the opportunity to purchase a Chromebook for $50? Enroll in our tech program, attend sessions totaling 15 hours of computer training, and you can purchase a Chromebook for only $50. If you would like to enroll in the Tech Goes Home program, please email Michelle Bettis (bettis_m@hcde.org). Space is limited. Classes will begin Tuesday, September 11, 5:45 pm to 8:15pm.

There will be a meeting for parents of East Ham juniors on Thursday, September 13th at 6:30pm in the Theatre. We will discuss the upcoming senior year expectations as well as other important events.

Monday, September 17th
EHHS Open House is set for Monday, September 17th at 6pm for all grades 9-12. All high school teachers will be meeting and greeting parents. East Hamilton clubs and athletics will have tables set up for info and EHS clothing for sale. Hope to see you there!

Parent Meeting for AP Trip to Florida

Thursday, September 27th
There will be a parent meeting on Thursday, September 27th, at 6pm in Julie Smith's room (1218) for students who plan to go on the AP Trip to Florida in the spring. The first payment for the trip is due Friday, September 7th. Please contact Julie Smith at smith_jul@hcde.org if you have any questions.

Who: Any student (9-12) enrolled in an Advanced Placement Course

Parking Permits

Permits are Required
Students are not allowed to drive to school unless they have purchased a parking passing the front office. Please stop by the front office to pick up a parking pass form or download a form here. Parking passes are $80 for the school year.

ACT Academy
|

Online Learning Tool
ACT Academy is a new resource available to students, launched in March 2018. ACT Academy is a free personalized online learning tool and test practice program available at www.act.org/academy. Through video lessons, interactive practice questions, full-length practice tests, educational games and other materials targeted to a student's academic needs, ACT Academy provides learners with a personalized study plan based on previous scores from the ACT test, PreACT, official ACT practice tests or in platform diagnostics.
Planning to take the ACT on October 27th? The registration deadline is September 28th. Go to

Spring Break Trip to Belize

Spring Break 2019
This trip includes a zip-line tour through the rain forest, a jungle "survival" hike, snorkeling at Ambergris Caye and a visit to a Mayan ruins site.
This will be the 10th year a group from the EH community has traveled during Spring Break with EF Tours.
Everyone is welcome! Students, family members and community members are all welcome on the trips.

Swim Team Interest Meeting

Wednesday, September 12th
All EHMS and EHHS swimmers interested in swimming on the East Hamilton Swim Team, plan on attending an informational meeting at Ooltewah High School in the Little Theater on Wednesday, September 12th from 6-8pm. Open to all students grades 6-12.
Come get information about our team! Come with your own questions. Parents and swimmers are welcome and encouraged to attend. We do share coaches and swim time with OHS at the Ooltewah Swim Center, which is the reason for meeting at OHS. However, the two teams compete separately.
Get in swim team shape by participating in the OSC Swim Clinic, September 24th-27th from 3-4pm each day. For more information, contact Cindy Newman at newman2820@gmail.com.

The window of opportunity to purchase Hurricane 100 sports packages is only open from August 1 until September 1, 2018.
The cost of the package is $1,000 and includes the following:
- 4 laminated passes to all regular season home sporting games for both middle school & high school for 3 years. They do not include tournament games.
- 1 reserved parking space for 3 years for all home football games
- reserved seating area for football games
- 2 tailgate parties for members only (Signal Mtn. & Ooltewah)
The CaneRaisers have been selling these packages since the school first opened in 2009, so come join the club! The CaneRaisers, with the support of our parents, have been able to purchase uniforms, helmets, band equipment, furniture, science equipment, wall graphics, and much more.

EHHS Writing Lab Fundraiser

Ends November 30th
The writing lab is a peer-tutoring program facilitated by East Hamilton's chapter of National English Honor Society. As the club advisor and an English teacher, Mrs. Luckhart can't help but see the great influence this lab could have on schoolwide literacy. Her
goal through this project is to raise the necessary funding to purchase two desktop computers to increase the relevance and effectiveness of the writing lab next year. Please visit the DonorsChoose funding page for more information about this project.

Beginning on Monday, August 27, Mrs. Seebach and Ms. Ellis will be meeting with seniors to go over important fall semester tasks, events, and deadlines. Topics covered will include: college applications deadlines, Family Connection and electronic transcripts, TN Promise application process. Parents may always access Family Connection as a Guest to see announcements and other important information that we will be sharing with seniors throughout the school year. Also, you may want to be sure that your child has a working email address for you so we can update that information.

ACT Senior Retake

Tuesday, October 2nd
ACT Senior Retake is scheduled for Tuesday, October 2, 2018. The test will be administered here at East Hamilton during the regular school day. There is no additional cost for this test. Be sure your students gets a good nights sleep and eats a healthy breakfast.
