Student Schedules are Available

Student schedules, shared with you and your child this past spring, are now visible in ProgressBook. Students can review their assigned schedule and begin organizing for the first day of classes on Tuesday, September 6th. Printed schedules will not be provided to students on the first day of school. Please remind your child that they should bring a copy of their schedule from home or have access to ProgressBook to access their daily schedule.

If you identify an error on your schedule, please contact the Guidance Office to schedule a meeting so that the student schedule can be adjusted before the start of the school year. Please remember that schedule changes are only made when there is a technical mistake, a student needs a graduation course, or an incorrect placement. Scheduling changes to accommodate period preferences or no longer wishing to take a course registered for will not be honored.

Chromebook Distribution, Repairs, & Student Planners

Please be aware that if your child is new to BBHHS and has not yet received their Chromebook, it will be distributed to them during first period on Tuesday, September 6th. If your child's Chromebook requires repair or not functioning, they should visit MR. Rick Koshel in the Technology Office located in Room 157.

If a student is interested in using a student planner, copies are available in the Guidance Office for $8.00.  Students can pay by cash, check (made payable to BBHHS) or have the planner added directly to their fees!

Digital ID and Open Campus

Students will receive an email message from SchoolPass today at 5 pm that contains their Digital ID. This Digital ID can be loaded into the student's Apple or Android Wallet. The Digital ID from school pass will contain a QR code that students will use to sign into and out of the building for Open Campus, Doctor's Appointments, or if they are tardy to school. The digital ID will also be used to sign into study halls.  Please make sure you are downloading this important Digital ID before the start of school!

Parents may also get the digital ID sent to their cell phone as the system sends the digital ID to the students email and the parent contact number that has been put on file with ProgressBook.

If your student does not receive a digital ID they should email Mr. Backo on Tuesday morning.  If you have difficulty with adding the Digital ID to the mobile device or do not have one please also contact Mr. Backo.

School Privilege Open Campus Form

BBHHS will again be offering students in grades 10-12 the opportunity to earn the student privilege of open campus for the 2022-2023 school year. To qualify for open campus privilege, students must meet the following criteria:

  1. Have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.5
  2. Passed all courses from the previous marking period
  3. Completed the Final Forms emergency medical forms process
  4. Acknowledged awareness of the Student Code of Conduct embedded in Final Forms

Applications should be submitted to the Assistant Principal's Office starting on Tuesday, September 6th.  If a student has not yet submitted their open campus application, THEY WILL NOT HAVE OPEN CAMPUS ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.  Students are advised to allow 48 hours for final approval and verification.

Once the student's assigned assistant principal verifies the criteria stated above, students will receive a notification to their school email account with their temporary privilege pass. Students who begin taking open campus privileges before fully completing the requirements established above and receiving verification from their assistant principal will have open campus privileges removed for the total number of days the benefit was misused plus an additional day. It is important to remember that the privilege of open campus can be revoked at any time pending a student's attendance, discipline record, parking/driving record, and academic standing.

The application for the open campus privilege can be found at the link below.

Open House

We will be hosting our annual Open House on Thursday, September 15th starting promptly at 7:00 p.m. and concluding at 8:30 p.m. Parents should report to their child's 1st-period assigned class. The structure will allow you an excellent to meet and hear from each of your child's teachers throughout the evening. This is a great opportunity to meet your child's teachers, learn about the course curriculum for their selected classes, and learn about the systems and supports available to them this school year.

We will also be hosting our Student Activity Fair this evening so that parents can learn about the numerous clubs and activities available to students at BBHHS and how they can get involved.  More information regarding Open House will be shared in the next several weeks.

Arrival and Dismissal Information

In light of the combination of Middle and High School bus routes, there are important traffic pattern changes. These changes impact everyone: buses, families, staff, and student drivers. The changes are designed to ease the volume of vehicles and safely direct the traffic flow. Your cooperation is very important to ensure the safety of our students. We ask for your patience as we all adjust to these changes. The Dismissal Map below indicates where specific bus numbers will be in the parking lot at dismissal time.   Additional information regarding school transportation can be located on the district website.

The Talking Bees

The District’s award-winning Speech and Debate team is getting ready to start for the 22/23 school year. We have a new debate coach who was among the first members of the debate team himself at Brecksville! He is very excited to be back- Alex Grgat.

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights, Speech and Debate team is advised by Head Coach Kaylyn Bass and includes students from the High School team and students from the Middle School. Practices begin in September and are held for both teams every Tuesday and Thursday evening at the high school.

Team members compete in a twelve-tournament season which begins in October and concludes at the end of January. The High School and Middle School State Tournaments are held, respectively, during the first and second weekends of March. Open to all students, the Speech and Debate Team provides a challenging yet enriching experience that leaves a positive impression upon all who participate.

Practice will start on Tuesday, September 13, from 6-8 pm in the Media center. Join us to learn about what the team has to offer. Please contact Coach Bass if you are interested in learning more.
