Safety Drill Recap

Earlier today, we conducted a school-wide safety drill in which we simulated an armed intruder entering the school through the Main Lobby during our 4B Lunch Period. The drill was completed in collaboration with local police officers who observed our drill and then debriefed with the building administration to identify strengths and weaknesses. We were encouraged by the cooperative nature of students during the drill and the ability of both staff and students to share information with school administration and the supervising police officers about their decisions made during the drill and how they conduct day-to-day student life.

After the drill, our local police officers visited classrooms and reviewed with students their observations and best practices as a source of feedback for students and staff. Local officers also fielded questions from students and shared in a meaningful dialogue about school and public safety. We will continue to work with our local safety experts to review our protocols and rehearse these specific situations with our students regularly so that we have a high level of awareness about how to best respond in what can only be described as an unimaginable scenario.

Please remember that the best defense is to report any concerning behavior or situations to the school or local authorities. The importance of "See Something, Something" is the most effective preventative measure and is the single most impactful measure in promoting and preserving safety. Linked below is our StopIt App reporting system each week that any BBHHS family can use to communicate directly with school officials regarding potentially unsafe behaviors.
