Mr. Cole Announces Retirement
A well respected member of the Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School Social Studies Department, Mr. Dathan Cole, has announced his retirement from Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School. Mr. Cole had originally intended to retire at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 school year but due to personal reasons has elected to begin his retirement effective Monday, October 31st.
Mr. Cole was in his thirty-second year of teaching overall, and has taught Economics, Advanced Placement Economics, and various other courses within the Social Studies Department at BBHHS since the building opened in 1997 and previously taught courses at Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School.
Mr. Cole was recently honored with the Harvard Business School of Northeast Ohio’s Samuel H. Elliott Educator Award. The Samuel H. Elliott Educator Award recognizes K-12 teachers for outstanding accomplishments in helping students develop an increased understanding of the free enterprise system and ethical business management. The faculty and students of Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools have developed a great fondness for Mr. Cole over his illustrious career as a Bee. He was consistently recognized for his passion for students and his enthusiastic teaching style. We wish to thank him for his many of years of service to the students and families of the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District. We also wish him a long and happy retirement!
The district has already begun the search for his replacement and will work to fill the vacancy created with a qualified candidate as soon as possible.
