Part Two: Practical Retention Strategies to Support Your Employer Value Proposition.

Onboarding & Orientation. For heaven’s sake, do the paperwork before their first day! Don’t spend valuable first day human capital bogging your employees down with the minutia of onboarding. Onboarding should be exciting! Make plans to spread training throughout the week. Before they arrive, show you’re prepared for new employees by developing and monitoring a plan for each new hire that engages key stakeholders in the process. Involve new employees with your company’s culture and an exciting project to sink their teeth into on the first day. Go to lunch with each new employee and introduce them to a mentor or a sponsor who will help them navigate the first few months on the job.
