FIU is excited to host the university’s fourth annual Juneteenth Celebration!

Under the theme “Celebrate, Educate, Heal”, this weeklong celebration brings together FIU students, faculty, staff, retirees, our alumni and the South Florida community, to bring awareness to the importance of Juneteenth in American history.

Our annual Freedom Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 15 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Earlene and Albert Dotson Pavilion at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus. This free event is open to the entire community and will feature live performances, local artisan vendors, activities, dancers, food trucks and fun for the whole family. Be sure to bring lawn chairs and mats for outdoor lounging.

Don't forget to register to attend! The first 200 faculty and staff to register will each receive a $15 food voucher to use at any of the event’s food trucks, limited to ONE (1) voucher per faculty or staff member. To claim your voucher, please use your FIU email. Eligible faculty and staff will receive a confirmation email prior to the event.

Every year, the Office of Employee Assistance (OEA) joins millions of people around the country to promote awareness, provide resources and advocate for everyone’s mental health.

The OEA is partnering with Mental Health America (MHA) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to provide tools and tips to help prioritize our wellness, reduce stigma, and support others.

This year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Month is “Where to Start: Mental Health in a Changing World.” The world is constantly evolving, and it can be overwhelming to navigate all the changes and challenges happening around us. The pressures of work, family, relationships, societal factors, and so many other things can significantly impact our mental wellbeing; often more than we realize.

The OEA’s goal is to provide you with support and resources to help you navigate through life's difficulties. Please use our confidential and free mental health screening program to learn more about what you might be facing.

It is in our human nature to be in the pursuit of happiness and on the continuous quest to find our purpose in life. Living with intention entails following the compass of our unique lives, creating a pathway to joy, fulfillment and well-being.

A variety of factors can be barriers to our journey to purposeful living, including fear of uncertainty and failure, low self-knowledge and awareness, distractions and lack of clarity.

The Office of Employee Assistance (OEA) invites you to their newest virtual workshop, Life Crafting: Action Steps to Create a Life with Purpose and Meaning.

This workshop will provide participants with valuable perspectives and holistic strategies to design a life in alignment with their values, skills, and passions.

Check out the sessions below, beginning at noon, to get started on your journey to mindfulness:
