The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) is committed to doing everything we can to ensure the health and well-being of our customers, staff and community during the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In compliance with the Stay at Home order and the Social Distancing policy issued for the State of Maryland, we will continue to serve you to the best of our ability. We want to keep you informed about HOC’s ongoing response to the COVID-19. Therefore, this month’s newsletter is a compilation of resources that may be useful to you and your family during this crisis.
Please be aware of the following protocols taking place at HOC:
- HOC offices and customer service centers are closed to the public until further notice. In-person appointments are not being scheduled or conducted at this time. Staff remain available via phone and email to assist you. Select appointments and meetings may be conducted via web/online platforms.
- If possible, submit all essential paperwork (e.g., recertification packets) to HOC by scanning and emailing your documents. Alternatively, you can send documents via U.S. mail, allowing enough time for paperwork to arrive and be processed. Secure drop boxes remain available outside of HOC offices and customer service centers – but note, receipts will not be issued for items dropped at these locations.
- Our Call Center staff will be available via telephone and email Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm to provide general information and technical assistance. During those hours, the Call Center will also field and schedule all emergency maintenance work orders. After 5:00 pm and on weekends, customers can call (256) 424-9106 to report an emergency maintenance issue. If you are trying to reach a specific party and you have their phone number and email, it is always best to reach out directly to those contacts.
