SEPTEMBER 20, 2016

We're nearly a month in... How is your semester going?

Now, is a great time to take an inventory of where you are at this year.

Have you taken advantage of Honors College events?  Are you reaching out and meeting new people?   Don't be afraid to venture out of your comfort zone.  There's a good chance you won't be the only one trying something new.

This week, marks our second "Building Blocks of Undergraduate Research" session. It's an important starting point for those new to research, so be sure to mark you calendar. You'll find full details in the newsletter below.

2017 Posters on the Hill

While we're talking research, there is also an amazing opportunity for students to apply to showcase their work on Capitol Hill through the Council on Undergraduate Research.  In this competitive event, students will travel to Washington D.C., talk to congressional members, meet with their representative and learn about advocacy for undergraduate research.  Posters on the Hill is accepting applications until November 2.

In 2016, 60 top projects were selected out of hundreds of applications. Purdue has done well in the past at this event and we are hoping to have a presence in D.C. again.

Friday, Sept. 23 marks Family Weekend at the Honors College and we are expecting a big crowd.  During the open house, families  will hear a message from the dean, meet students, faculty and staff, and take tours of the building.
