Incorporating honors coursework into your spring 2017 schedule

Adding an HONR course, enrolling in an honors section of a course already on your schedule, or completing an honors contract is an opportunity to enhance your academic experience.

HONR courses offer unique, interdisciplinary content, taught by top-notch faculty. Honors sections create a smaller classroom environment, with fellow honors students.

Open registration begins tomorrow, November 30th.

  • Select THIS LINK to view highlighted honors courses and corresponding CRNs.
  • A full list of HONR courses can be found HERE.
  • Information about initiating the honors contract process can be found HERE.
  • If you have any questions about maximizing your spring 2017 schedule with honors courses, please contact your Honors advisor HERE.

Scholarly Project proposals accepted through Jan. 30

Students who have already completed or are currently engaged in scholarly work or undergraduate research can submit scholarly project proposals for review through January 30th.  An interdisciplinary faculty committee will begin reviewing proposals following the submission deadline.

For more information about what you need to include in the proposal, as well as the proposal form, check this webpage:

Future submission deadlines will also be posted there.

Please schedule an appointment with your Honors College advisor to discuss this process more in detail or if you have questions specific to your project:   https://honors.purdue.edu/current-students/honors-advising/index.php

Student Spotlight
Undergraduate Research: Meghan Hawkins
By Emma Alexander, Communications Intern

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Sports are undoubtedly a significant part of American culture. Many of our highest paid citizens are athletes. However, we are not necessarily educated on sports in school or the legislation which surrounds them.

One piece of legislation which many people associate with sports is Title Nine. Title IX is a living document; it is ever changing in meaning and interpretation. Interestingly, a mention of sports is never included in the actual wording of the document.

As it turns out, Title IX is a great deal more influential and versatile than many people realize, and Honors College student Megan Hawkins has taken it upon herself to delve deeper into the subject.
