August 2023

Aloha! We are pleased to provide the following updates, and encourage you to share this information with others in your company. View previous notices.

Supporting Those Impacted by the Maui and Hawaii Island Wildfires

If you or a loved one is affected by the wildfires on Maui or Hawaii Island and need to speak with a doctor or counselor, our HiDoc® telehealth service is available to HMAA members at no cost. In most cases you can be seen in as little as 30 minutes from your phone, mobile device, or computer.

HiDoc® can help those dealing with stress, anxiety, and other emotional concerns. Members can also speak to a doctor about smoke inhalation, minor burns, coughing/wheezing, medication refills, and more. For more information, visit HMAA.com/telemedicine.

HMAA is committed to supporting our clients and members affected by the wildfires on Maui and Hawaii Island. Visit our website to learn more about what we’ve implemented.

We’re monitoring the situation closely and are prepared to make further adjustments to help employers provide quality benefits and ensure members receive the medical care they need.

Onsite Vaccinations and Biometric Screenings for Your Workforce

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of routine vaccinations for people of all ages to prevent the onset of a disease or reduce its severity. Host the following at your worksite for your employees’ convenience.

Vaccinations

Keep the flu and COVID-19 out of your workplace by hosting a vaccination clinic at your business location! You can offer one or both vaccines with no copayment for HMAA members. There is no cost to the employer when minimum participation is met, and participation is not limited to HMAA members. Certain restrictions apply.

Members may also visit a wide selection of pharmacy locations for a free flu vaccination.

View or download our 2023-2024 flu program flyer for details.

Biometric Screenings

We are pleased to offer custom biometric screenings conducted at your worksite. There is no cost when minimum participation is met, and participation is not limited to HMAA members.

  • Screenings can include any or all of the following: body mass index (BMI) with body composition, blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol.
  • Aggregate reporting is available when minimum participation is met.
  • Members receive a follow-up letter when their scores are outside the target range for any of the measurements.

Scheduling will be based on availability. To request a vaccination clinic and/or screenings or if you have any questions, please email us at HMAAwellness@hmaa.com

Mahalo for Supporting the American Heart Association

As longtime sponsors of the American Heart Association, we were excited to have more than 50 associates, family members and friends representing Team HMAA at the Hawai’i Heart Walk on August 5! It was great to see many of our clients and members at the walk.

We’re proud to support the AHA in its fight against heart disease and stroke.
