Helping Healthcare Providers Deliver Care More Efficiently
It's that time again! Semi-annual attestations begin on Wednesday, November 1, and are required to be performed by various designated 'role holders' at ClinicalConnect Participant Organizations. If you hold one or more of the following roles and have attestations to do, please watch for an email prompting you to log into the Access Governance System (AGS); roles that typically have attestations to do include:

  1. Legal Signing Authority
  2. Privacy Contact (in fact, Privacy Contacts have the Annual Compliance Attestation to do starting on November 1 so be sure to complete it as soon as you're prompted to do so!)
  3. Local Registration Authorities
  4. Sole (Physician) Participants who have provisioned staff in their private practice office with their own ClinicalConnect accounts, to be able to support the physician's delivery of healthcare to their patients

Attestations are completed online in AGS at https://ags.clinicalconnect.ca. *New*, also starting November 1, 2023, users are required to enter a "Passcode" (in addition to username and password) when accessing AGS. By now existing users of AGS (as well as the Haystack iS Auditing & Surveillance online tool) should have registered a device for what's called "Multi-Factor Authentication", which is what will provide these systems' users with the "Passcode". If you haven't already registered a device but anticipate needing to use AGS to do attestations, email mfa@clinicalconnect.ca and we can provide further direction.

Thanks in advance for your prompt attention to completing attestations as soon as possible. Attestations play a key role in ensuring appropriate access to various systems that together help Providers deliver healthcare more efficiently to patients!

Helping Patients Empower
Their Health Journey
Since our last update in the summer, we're pleased to announce that the following hospitals in south west Ontario now contribute data to ConnectMyHealth!

  • Chatham-Kent Healthcare Alliance
  • Erie Shores HealthCare
  • Groves Community Memorial Hospital
  • Guelph General Hospital
  • Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare
  • North Wellington Healthcare
  • Windsor Regional Hospital

In other ConnectMyHealth news, participating Ontario Health Teams in the West Region have ramped up their awareness and promotional activities. Depending on where you live, you may hear about ConnectMyHealth in your local hospitals, on the radio or even on TV!

As a reminder, before you register, make sure you're aware:
  1. ConnectMyHealth can only be used to view select health records from participating hospitals located in south west Ontario – click here to see the participating hospitals, and what types of data may be available.
  2. In order to benefit from ConnectMyHealth, you need to have received healthcare from at least one of the participating hospital(s).
  3. You must be 16 years of age or older to register for ConnectMyHealth.
  4. You must have a valid green Ontario health card to register for a ConnectMyHealth account.
  5. You must also have a unique email address (i.e. not shared with anyone else) that will be used to receive information about your ConnectMyHealth account.

In addition, work is progressing well to offer ConnectMyHealth users the ability to complete Multi-Factor Authentication (a security feature required when logging into ConnectMyHealth) using SMS/text instead of an authenticator app. Final testing is underway, with go-live anticipated later this Fall.

Improving Access to
Specialist Advice
The HITS eHealth Office is the Regional Lead in Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant (HNHB) for eConsult deployment. eConsult enables Physicians and Nurse Practitioners to ask clinical questions to a Specialist electronically and receive a response within days, often eliminating the need for an in-person patient visit. In Ontario, there are 4,000+ active Primary Care Providers (PCPs) and 1,000+ active Specialists using eConsult today! Interested in learning more about eConsult? Complete the intake form today!

Latest Updates:

1.     OTNhub Weekday-Only Reminders: eConsult senders & Specialists now have additional notification preference options. Reminders can be set to ‘Daily Digest Emails’ (Weekdays Only). This change was implemented to ensure clinicians do not feel overburdened by notifications and can protect their time off on weekends, if desired.

2.     Clinicians can earn 5 MainPro Credits for sending eConsults: The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) designed the MainPro program to support the continuing professional development (CPD) of Family Physicians and family medicine learners in Canada.

If clinicians learn something important from an eConsult process, they can submit this as a self-learning reflection in MainPro (clinicians must be active CFPC members or Non-Member MainPro Participants to submit and claim MainPro credits). Learn about eligibility and how to submit here.

3.     Tired of Fax Referrals?: To increase utilization and demonstrate the value of eConsult to PCPs, Specialists can use this Fax Back document to notify PCPs they are available on eConsult.

4.     HRM® Integration for OTNhub:  Clinicians with Health Report Manager (HRM) access can now export completed eConsult case details into a single PDF report, for viewing within their OMD-certified EMR. Click here to learn more!

The HITS eHealth Office is here for any questions or suggestions you may have to support your use of eConsult. If you would like to book a one-on-one training session via Zoom, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Tips & Tricks: It's As Easy as 1-2-3!
Calling All ClinicalConnect ONE ID Users!
Do you use your ONE ID username as your means to access the ClinicalConnect provider-facing portal, and need your password reset? Password resets for ONE ID credentials must be done by calling Ontario Health's Service Desk at 1-866-250-1554, or by visiting https://oneid.ehealthontario.ca/forgotPassword. Staff at the HITS eHealth Office, that operates the ClinicalConnect Program Office, are unable to reset ONE ID passwords, and our Access Governance System (AGS) cannot be used to reset ONE ID passwords either.

Calling All ClinicalConnect Pharmacist Users!
As the scope of practice expands for community pharmacists, being able to access their patients' health history is becoming more important than ever! Especially as cold and flu season is setting in, pharmacists authorized to use ClinicalConnect are reminded they can view their patients':
  • Dispensed medications within ClinicalConnect's Pharmacy Module/Home Med Drug tab.
  • Covid and Flu vaccination information in ClinicalConnect's Pharmacy Module/Home Med Services tab (if provided via the community pharmacy or Public Health).
  • Hospital records, which is particularly important for patients transitioning out of hospital and back into the community.

For more helpful information on what can be viewed by authorized users in ClinicalConnect's Pharmacy module, click here.
