April 1-2, Zurich, Switzerland
The TFF Global Summit is where the world's food and agriculture innovators come together to take action to shape the future of food. Meet and learn from inspiring thought leaders, hear pitches from the world's most innovative student entrepreneurs and experience the creative power and impact of Thought For Food. May 2-4, Lausanne, Switzerland
The Tech4Dev Conference provides a critical platform for knowledge exchange, enabling researchers to present their findings and practitioners to outline their needs and insights, while relating their experiences from the field. At Tech4Dev, social entrepreneurs, industry, and policy makers can deepen their knowledge, learn about cutting-edge research and projects, and brainstorm together about new approaches to technology innovation and dissemination for development. Register by March 31 for early bird rates.

September 5-7, Glasgow, Scotland
The Social Innovation Research Conference, hosted by Glasgow Caledonian University, is the world's leading interdisciplinary social innovation research conference. The conference gathers scholars from across the globe to discuss social innovation from a variety of perspectives. Abstracts due April 1, 2016. Learn more and submit your abstract here .

Funding Opportunities

The Innovation Exchange is a marketplace that connects funders, innovators, users and solution seekers and gives them the tools to maximize their ability to meet the largest, most pressing development challenges. Start your engines, robots, and devices - it's time for a little competition. We're excited to announce that the 2016 ASME Innovation Showcase (ISHOW) is now accepting applications. The ASME ISHOW is a global competition for "hardware led social innovation" - that is, innovators taking physical products to market to have a social or environmental impact. Finalists will be invited to showcase events in India (April), Kenya (May), & USA (June) to pitch their prototypes to industry experts and investors. Winners share $500,000 in seed grants and technical assistance. Application due March 16 . Find out more and apply here .

The State Department led DREAMS program is seeking innovative solutions to further their commitment to reduce HIV infections by infusing new thinking and high-impact approaches to meet the complex needs of adolescent girls and young women in 10 sub-Saharan African countries. Deadline is March 28. Apply here.

The EduApp4Syria prize competition seeks the development of a smartphone app that can build foundational literacy skills in Arabic and improve psychosocial wellbeing among Syrian refugee children, aged five to 10. The total prize purse is estimated at $1.7 million. Deadline is April 1 . Apply here.

The Invention Ambassador Program strives to help cultivate a new and diverse generation of inventors and increase global understanding of the role of invention in creating new products and building new businesses, and the importance of inventors and invention education in building economies and fostering innovation. The application/nomination period for the 2016-2017 class is now open. Deadline for applications/nominations is April 4. Apply here.

2016 U.S. Aspire Competition
The U.S. State Department will be hosting an inaugural U.S. ASPIRE Competition. Competitors will submit their applications based on Technologies for Food Security to compete to represent the United States at this year's APEC-wide ASPIRE Prize Competition. Six finalists will be invited to the U.S. ASPIRE Competition award ceremony in Washington D.C. in June, where the winner will be announced and honored. In addition to representing the U.S., the winner will receive a $3,000 cash prize. The five other finalists will receive cash prizes of $1,200 each. Science & SciLifeLab Prize for Young Scientists

Science/AAAS and SciLifeLab, a coordinated effort of four universities, have joined forces in creating the Science & SciLifeLab Prize for Young Scientists. Both Science/AAAS and SciLifeLab recognize that global economic health is dependent upon a vibrant research community and we need to incent our best and brightest to continue in their chosen fields of research. DIV holds a year-round grant competition for innovative ideas, pilots and tests them using cutting-edge analytical methods, and scales solutions that demonstrate widespread impact and cost-effectiveness. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis . Apply here .

The Global Innovation Fund (GIF) invests in social innovations that aim to improve the lives and opportunities of millions of people in the developing world. Through grants and risk capital, it supports breakthrough solutions with strong potential for social impact at a large scale. Financial support ranges from $50,000 to $15 million. Learning Opportunities

Leveraging Mobile Data Collection for International Development
The wide-spread availability of phone-based communications, and the increasing availability of smartphones and tablets offers researchers, practitioners, and students working in international development an array of new tools and techniques for collecting field data. The Webinar Series will provide participants with an introduction to a sample of survey software tools transforming the collection of data for international development research and how they might implement each tool within their own work.
