The HERA Outside-The-Box  grants are making a big long-term difference in the fight against ovarian cancer.   It would be a disservice to the future of women's health to stop providing these grants.
~ Dr. Jill Slansky, former HERA Board President & Research Scientist
The HERA Outside-The-Box award allowed me to pursue the answers to several key questions that will ultimately take us one step closer to understanding ovarian cancer and treatment options.

Without the award from HERA Women's Cancer Foundation there is simply no answer, so I am truly thankful.

Your support is critical at this time for highly celebrated progress against ovarian cancer like that which Outside-The-Box grant recipients, Drs. Yu Yu and Shih recently had published.

Help fund these critical studies by making a one-time gift in honor of a special lady in your life, during Ovarian Cancer awareness month.

Your donation will ensure HERA reaches our goal to raise $14,000 before the end of summer.

Outside-The-Box (OSB-1) grants are awarded to fellows, recently minted MDs, PhDs, or MD/PhDs, to perform innovative projects to further the understanding of the ovarian cancer problem (prevention, treatments, causes, early detection, clinical care, etc).

Early on HERA was hopeful that fellows who receive grants and perform peer-reviewed publishable research, would gain credibility in the ovarian cancer field and would remain in the field throughout their careers.

This is indeed the case.

All fellows from 2003-2013 are still involved in cancer research or cancer care - 100%.

Nineteen of the 22 fellows (86%) are still involved in ovarian cancer research or ovarian cancer care.

All claim that the HERA grants you've helped fund have encouraged them to stay in the field.

Many fellows have been promoted to academic appointments focusing on ovarian cancer research. This means that they are now training new scientists and clinicians to address the ovarian cancer problem.

Your support of these fellows has directly contributed to growing the understanding of ovarian cancer and the size of the field.  Thank you.

Please join me today by making a one-time gift of $40 or more in honor of a special woman in your life.   Your donation will make a lady feel special, while ensuring that HERA is on track for meeting all of our 2015 funding commitments, including HERA OSB-1 grants.

Onward!
