SWAN LAKE RETURNS!

What people have said about DANB’s SWAN LAKE ..

On Friday night, I experienced one of the most magical evenings I’ve had in a very long time!  SWAN LAKE took me and the rest of us to another world, a world of loveliness, beauty and LIGHT. The way you ended this ballet took my breath away. While I truly enjoyed SWAN LAKE in the spring, this one was at another level. I cannot do it justice.”

“It was a glorious performance!”

It was magnificent!”

A GREATER PURPOSE

DANB has cherished its time with several dancers from the Ukraine. Sergii Sydorskyi was DANB’s original Dracula; a Principal Dancer with DANB for a number of years. Oksana Maslova created works for DANB, taught for Resident School Intensives and performed most recently as guest artist in SWAN LAKE and GISELLE.  When asked to help provide information about a recent tour to support aid to Ukranian citizens we agreed.

The National Ballet of Ukraine from the Taras Shevchenko National Opera and Ballet Theatre debuts it’s US tour! Straight from the historic Kyiv National Opera House, these elite dancers will captivate you with a stunning program featuring timeless classics including “The Dying Swan,” "Don Quixote" and “Giselle.” Joining the tour are special guests, Ukranian Shumka Dancers, performing thrilling and vibrant traditional Ukrainian folk dances.

This is more than just a performance; it's a celebration of Ukrainian culture and resilience. The tour also serves a greater purpose: supporting the war-torn nation of Ukraine. Your ticket purchase includes a donation to HUMANITE, an organization dedicated to providing aid to Ukranian citizens affected by the war. Don't miss this unique opportunity to witness world-class artistry and support a noble cause.

Loss of A Friend

Dance Alive recently lost an old-time friend,

Crill Hintermister.

A simple man, Crill cared passionately about three things – astronomy, his “rocks’- (he was a jewelry maker), and the dancers.

He adored the Company – telling a friend that the beauty of the dance brought him emotional peace.  A lifelong Gator, when funds were limited he gave up his football tickets to make frequent small gifts. His most recent, a check for “a new building for the ballay”.

Crill distributed posters and flyers for over 10 years for us – over 500 per show. Unable to navigate as he would like this past year, he kept apologizing for not being able to distribute the posters.

He helped Linda and Dennis Rocha clean up after every social event and donated gorgeous jewelry that he created for us to auction at the Gala.

Crill attended all DANB and Next Generation performances and loved having his picture taken with the dancers.

Members of the Company will travel to Madison, FL this Saturday for his funeral service. He will be with other family members – settlers in Florida’s frontier from before the Civil War. We know he would have loved having the dancers there.

From Bia Povoas,

He will be in my heart and my prayers. May God welcome him with joy in heaven.”
