WEEKLY UPDATE: August 10 - 16, 2024 | |
STANFORD COMPUTING AND DATA SCIENCE:
- Deliveries from 6am to 9am will increase traffic on Jane Stanford Way. Please obey flag persons.
- Expect increased traffic on Lomita Drive due to deliveries and debris removal.
- East stair work will involve heavy machinery and increase truck traffic.
- Concrete pours are scheduled for 8/16, 8/22, and 8/26.
JANE STANFORD WAY - NIGHT WORK:
- Installation of chilled water continues on Jane Stanford Way, between North-South Axis Rd and Via Ortega.
- Jane Stanford Way, between North-South Axis Rd and Via Ortega, will be closed from 9pm to 6am. Please follow the posted detour for vehicles and bikes.
- The southern sidewalk on Jane Stanford Way, between North-South Axis Rd and Via Pueblo, will be closed during construction. Pedestrians, please follow the posted detour.
- Work hours are 8pm to 6am, Monday through Thursday, with the road closure beginning at 9pm.
MAIN QUAD - NIGHT WORK:
- Electrical Reliability Improvements (ERI) work is ongoing in the Main Quad.
- Some pedestrian detours will be in place, please follow detour instructions.
- Work hours are 9:30pm to 8am, Monday through Friday.
VIA PUEBLO SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS:
- Sanitary sewer improvements will begin on Monday, 8/12, on Via Pueblo, between Via Palou and Lomita Mall.
- Two ADA stalls will be closed on Thursday, 8/15, and Friday, 8/16.
- Pipe bursting will take place on Friday, 8/16.
- One lane along Via Pueblo will be closed as needed. Vehicles, please follow flagger instructions.
- Pedestrian pathways will be modified, please follow posted detour signage.
- Working Hours are from 6am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.
DEEP LAB AT END STATION III:
- Ongoing deliveries to the HEPL South building will take place.
- Interior dust mitigation measures including a visqueen containment will be set up around the existing Gratta lab & MTR.
- Interior selective demo of basement restrooms and structural elements will begin; expect loud noise from demolition & fans, along with vibration and dust.
- Ongoing demo debris removal will take place.
- Work hours are 5am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.
VARIAN BUILDING DECK LEAK REMEDIATION:
- Pedestrian routing will be modified during construction, please follow posted detour signage.
- Paver installation is ongoing. Expect noise from saw-cutting.
- Working Hours are from 6am to 3pm, Monday through Friday.
ARBORETUM ROAD:
- Pathway improvements and water line installation continues near Lasuen Street and Arboretum Road.
- Work hours are from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
- Please use caution when traveling in the area.
ROBLE HALL UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS:
- Lake water utility improvements/testing will be completed next week, with hardscape restoration to follow.
- Vehicular and pedestrian pathways will be modified, please follow posted detour signage.
- Work Hours are from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
TRESIDDER CHILLED WATER:
- Chilled Water resiliency project from 8/26 to 9/4, at the intersection of Duena Street and Santa Teresa Street.
- Pedestrian and bike traffic will be routed around this area, please use caution and follow all detours.
- The blue tower will not be available during this work.
- Expect some dust and noise due to excavation work.

GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION:
- Escondido Mall remains closed between Meyer Green and Lasuen Mall.
- Work will occur this Saturday 8/10, including glazing work at GSE South. No elevated noise or activity is expected.
- Concrete pours will occur Wednesday, 8/14, and Friday, 8/16, starting at 5am and concluding late morning. Please be alert for trucks entering the site via Escondido Mall/Road.
- The CERAS gate will be utilized weekly for dumpster removals/replacements, material deliveries, and dump trucks.
- Structural upgrades of GSE North are ongoing, including the demolition of the concrete matt slab in the GSE North courtyard; expect increased noise and vibration.
- Follow all posted signage around the site fence for alternate pathways.
MEYER PLINTH:
- A new sculpture will be installed at Meyer plinth this fall.
- Deinstallation of the current sculpture will begin next week.
- Please observe pathway closures and follow posted detour signage.
LASUEN UTILITY RESTORATION:
- Pedestrian pathways will be modified during construction, please follow posted detour signage.
- Grading work for pathways continues this week.
- Storm drain installation and irrigation work will begin.
- Concrete placement will be ongoing. Expect backup alarms and minor noise from activities.
- Work Hours are from 6:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.
LASUEN ESCONDIDO CIRCULATION IMPROVEMENTS:
- Pedestrian pathways will be modified during construction, please follow posted detour signage.
- Lake water hot tap will take place on Monday 8/12.
- Forming of concrete slabs continues. Concrete will be poured on Wednesday 8/14.
- Grading work continues this week.
- Emergency vehicles, please utilize alternative routes for access.
- Work hours are 6:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.
ESCONDIDO ROAD:
- Parking on Escondido Road by Escondido Elementary School will be removed next week to make way for a pedestrian crosswalk.
- Pedestrian pathways will be modified, please follow posted detour signage.
GALVEZ UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS:
- Continuation of new duct bank and lake water installation along Galvez between Memorial Way and Jane Stanford Way.
- Continuation of duct bank installation in front of HHMB and Shultz Building.
- Traffic on Galvez will be reduced to one lane of traffic. Limited parking is available along Galvez.
- Pedestrian and traffic control will be in place along Galvez Mall between Crothers Way and Jane Stanford Way. Please follow directions from flaggers and posted signage.
- Staging area at Auxiliary Library off Pampas.
- Work hours are from 9am to 6pm.
MAPLES PAVILION EXPANSION:
- Construction will continue through the remainder of the year. Expect excessive noise and dust.
- The sidewalk on Campus Drive is closed, please follow posted detour signage.
TAUBE TENNIS SOUTH (ENCINA TENNIS COURTS):
- Intermittent disturbances may occur on the paths adjacent to the courts through the remainder of the year due to construction activities.
- Bike, pedestrian and cart routes have been modified around the site but are still open. Please use caution in this area and follow posted detours.
TAUBE TENNIS STADIUM:
- Demo of the stadium continues. Expect excessive noise and dust.
- The sidewalk on Campus Drive will be closed, please follow posted detour signs to ensure your safety.
- The walking path between the tennis stadium and Avery Aquatic Center will be closed to through traffic. Please follow detour signs around.
SMITH SOFTBALL STADIUM:
- Demo work continues, please expect excessive noise and dust.
- Construction fencing will remain up for the duration of the project.
- Churchill Mall will be closed to pedestrians directly adjacent to the stadium, please follow signs for detours.
- Pedestrian access to Steuber Stadium is limited. Please follow signs for detours and ADA access routes.
340 BONAIR SIDING ROAD DEMOLITION:
- Pre-demolition activities are ongoing at the site.
- Sidewalks, bike lanes and road through Bonair Siding will remain open.
EV UTILITIES RENEWALS:
- Continuation of water main and building services installation in Abrams Court.
- Domestic water service interruptions are scheduled as follows:
- Monday 8/12: Abrams Bldg. domestic water will be shut down for approximately 3 hours. Fire service will be shut down for approximately 8 hours. Fire watch will be provided.
- Wednesday 8/14: Domestic water will be shut down to Buildings 57, 58 & 59 for approximately 8 hours.
- Traffic control will be in place and limited parking will be available. Please follow directions from flaggers and posted signage.
- Work hours are from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
WILBUR BOWDOIN CROSSWALK:
- Striping and pathway improvements at the intersection of Wilbur Way and Bowdoin Lane continue.
- Work hours will be 8am to 5pm, with no major noise before 9am.
- Please observe parking reservation signs and detours.
MIRRIELEES DOMESTIC WATER IMPROVEMENTS:
- Installation of new domestic water service.
- Traffic control will be in place and limited parking will be available. Please follow directions from posted signage.
- Work hours are from 7am to 4pm.
ESCONDIDO MALL LAKEWATER REPLACEMENT:
- Traffic will be impacted on Escondido Mall and Escondido Road from Galvez Mall to Branner Hall
- Work hours are from 8am to 6:30pm, noisy work begins at 8:30am.
- Installation of new lake water along Escondido Road.
- Staging area on Bowdoin parking lot.
JUNIPERO SERRA BLVD:
- Domestic water replacement work from 9am to 3pm.
- Installation of new water main across JSB.
- Traffic on JSB will be reduced to one lane during work hours from Campus Drive to Santa Maria Avenue.
- Staging area on Gerona Road.
