Hawaii Defense Alliance's workforce committee members Ian Caliedo and Keala Peters joined the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF) on a career-oriented field trip with James Campbell High School students in mid-April, As part of its community outreach program with local schools, 26 students and three teachers from the school's Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) program were given the opportunity to tour the shipyard's welding school, which included demonstrations and an overview of equipment and facilities. Students were able to see first-hand what it is like to work within an industry organization, learn about the benefits of being an employee, and presented an opportunity when entering the workforce.
