Connecticut Modifies Non-Compete Law for Physicians, and Extends Protections to APRN’s and PA’s
Effective July 1, 2023, CT Public Act 23-97 modifies Connecticut’s non-competition statute in several ways. The new law amends how, when, and in what situations non-compete clauses may be used in employment agreements with physicians, APRN’s, and PA’s. The law clarifies, when applicable, the geographical restriction. The size and type of the medical employer also matters for physicians. In a tangentially related matter, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) issued a decision that held the inclusion of broad non-disparagement and confidentiality provisions in severance agreements is unlawful.
