How To Get The COVID-19 Vaccine

Connecticut is currently in Phase 1a of the COVID-19 Vaccine roll-out. Those individual in group 1a who are eligible to receive the vaccine include:

  • Physicians and other Healthcare Personnel: all paid and unpaid persons serving in healthcare settings who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients or infectious materials.

  • Long Term Care Facility Residents: adults who reside in facilities that provide a range of services, including medical and personal care, to persons who are unable to live independently.

  • First Responders at risk of exposure to COVID-19 through their response to medical emergencies such as EMT's, fire and police.

All physicians and other healthcare personnel who actively see patients are encouraged to schedule an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The following steps should be taken to register for the vaccine:


  • Community Based Physicians/Smaller Medical Practices not affiliated with a larger healthcare organization (e.g., < 10 people) that may be having trouble registering in VAMS can also have each individual on its staff register through this link: https://dphsubmissions.ct.gov/Independent

You are encouraged to make time for employees to receive the vaccine. Schedule early as time slots are filling-up quickly.

Upcoming Phases

The state is committed to inoculating everyone who wants the vaccine. Those individuals who will be eligible for vaccination in upcoming phases between January and May may include:

  • Critical workforce employees
  • Other congregate settings
  • Adults over 65 years of age
  • High risk individuals under the age of 65 years of age

No decisions have been made yet about the prioritization of individuals beyond Phase 1a. Decisions concerning the priority order for Phase 1b and beyond will be made based on ACIP guidelines, the state's allocation subcommittee advice, and ultimately the decision of the governor.
