Join us on Tuesdays this summer for an intergenerational reading program designed to help our young readers practice their skills during their time out of school. We will meet every Tuesday from June 21 through August 16 at 1:45pm in front of Winter Growth Adult Day Center (5460 Ruth Keeton Way, Columbia) where elementary school aged children will spend time reading to and interacting with senior residents. This is not a drop off program; all children must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring 2-3 age appropriate books for your child(ren) to read aloud. Readers will be paired with and rotate among different residents and should anticipate spending 10-15 minutes with each one. Space is limited. Please email or call Susan at 410-730-0770 to register.

Property Standards Evaluator Update

Our Property Standards Evaluator (PSE) has completed almost 1/3 of the initial curbside evaluations of property in the Village.  We are seeing lots of folks sprucing up their property; weeding those landscape beds and power washing gutters and siding.  Please keep in mind the overall goal of this program should you receive a postcard; to help keep property values high and our Village attractive.  As this program is conducted infrequently, the last time being 14 years ago, we hope that it will also serve as a reminder to homeowners that there are, in fact, a set of maintenance standards we ask each homeowner to work towards.

Many of the homes in Harper's Choice are approaching 50 years old and to keep our community a visually welcoming place to call home requires effort from everyone.  Please reach out to us here at the Village office if you have questions or concerns about the overall program, or contact the PSE directly at hccapse@gmail.com for specific questions about a post card you have received.  And, a big THANK YOU to all who have embraced the spirit of what we are trying to achieve!!
