March 15th Weekly Word

One Great Hour of Sharing

For the next few weeks, we are collected monies to be given to the UCC special offering, One Great Hour of Sharing, which helps people in deep need. When you give, you help families around the world become stronger, healthier and better equipped to address hardships and catastrophes that would otherwise leave them destitute and hopeless.

HCC will be receiving donations for One Great Hour of Sharing through March 26th. You can put money in the special offering envelopes at worship, or make checks out to the church (designating “One Great Hour of Sharing”). Thank you, as always, for your continued support of these important mission opportunities.

Welcoming Our Newest Members

On Sunday, March 12th, we welcomed four new members to our HCC community!

Let's give them all a warm welcome!!

From left to right, Janet Kliska, Judy Ross, Lynn D'Adamo & Paul D'Adamo

Lynn & Paul D'Adamo

Paul & Lynn moved to Hampstead, NH from North Attleboro, MA in February 2020.

Paul and Lynn have been married since 1986 and have two children, Elise (and husband Aaron) in Bedford, NH and Alan in Nashville, TN. They are the proud grandparents of Lydia and Emily, children of Elise and Aaron.

Paul & Lynn were members of the Four Corners Community Chapel (Congregational Church) in Cumberland, RI for over 30 years, serving on several Boards and Committees including Stewardship, Missions, Deacons, Church Communications, and Church Council.

We look forward to participating in all aspects of Hampstead Congregational Church and the Hampstead community.

We have lived in Hampstead for 5+ years.

Don and I have enjoyed many years of traveling, including boating and RVing. We also both enjoygolf and day trips around New England.

Several years ago she attended Hampstead Congregational with her friend, Juanita, who most of you know.

Looking for Tech Volunteers

Do you like to work with technology?

Then we need you!

We are looking for a few more people to volunteer on Sunday mornings to livestream our services.

After 2-3 days of training, the volunteer position would be a 3-hour commitment one Sunday morning a month, or more if feasible.

If you are interested, please contact the church office @ 603-329-6985.

Please come and support NuDay Syria.

Missions could use your help making brownies.

Contact the office if you can provide some for the event.

Open Clerk Position at HCC

Is writing notes an interest of yours?

Our congregation is looking for someone to fill the position of clerk. Primary responsibility is to take notes and participate at the monthly Ministry Oversight meetings and at the annual congregational meeting. Interested? Please let our Moderator, Fred Malcolm, or Pastor Kathy know.

Our conference is helping us to think about doing church differently in our changing world.

They are offering three workshops for us to explore.

Several church members are planning to attend the workshop on Saturday, April 22. Would you come too? If we get six people to come, we're able to attend free! If you're interested, please let Pastor Kathy or the office know.

We Would Love More Pictures

We are looking for pictures, either candid or planned, of our HCC community.

If you take pictures at any of our many services or events, please send them to Maria at HCC1752@gmail.com.

We would love to include them in our Weekly Word and other media. Thanks!

Farewell to Jane Conradsen

Jane has moved on to the next stage of her life. March 5th was her final service at HCC. We appreciate all her ministry with and to us these past 20+ years. She will be greatly missed.

As of 4/1/23, her new address will be: 7 Fox Run Lane, #22, West Lebanon, NH 03784. Her phone number will remain the same.

Good luck and Godspeed, Jane!

Scam Emails & Texts

Emails and Texts are often sent, saying they are from Pastor Kathy or another staff member. She (or the HCC staff) will never send out a generic email/text--she'll address it to your name. She will never ask you for money/gift cards over email nor via a text.

Also, any email from Pastor Kathy will always have her signature line on the bottom with her phone number/address.

If in doubt, please contact the church office or Pastor Kathy.

Music Corner by Herb Tardiff

Franz Schubert, January 31st, 1797– November 19th, 1828

Franz Schubert was one of the most prolific composers in the history of classical music and is credited as one of the early pioneers of the Romantic Era in music.

In addition to his contributions in writing lieder, Schubert wrote a number of chamber works for string quartet and quintet, solo piano pieces, and symphonies that are still regularly performed today.

Schubert's last two requests before he died were that he hear a performance of Beethoven's String Quartet #14 one last time and that he be buried next to Beethoven after he passed. Both wishes were fulfilled.

By the time Schubert had died at age 31, he had written over 1,000 pieces of music.

Blankets for Project Linus

For those of you who have been busy sewing, quilting, knitting, or crocheting, we have an new opportunity to donate those handmade items!

We located a national organization that has local chapters called Project Linus (https://www.facebook.com/projectlinussouthwestnewhampshire/). This organization's mission is "to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans". Blankets are given to children in need through NH.

*We welcome all styles of blankets made in child-friendly colors/prints.
*Crocheted, knitted, quilted (100% cotton or flannel), fleece….you don’t have to be an expert!
*Blankets must be NEW, HANDMADE and WASHABLE.
*Fabric blankets can be quilted by machine, hand or tied. If you are tying the blanket make sure the ends are trimmed to 1” and the knots are secure.
*Please do not add any embellishments to the blankets such as buttons that could be swallowed by a child.
*If you are using a no-sew fleece pattern, please be sure to trim off both selvages FIRST. Not sure what selvages are? Ask the clerk who is cutting your fleece to please show you, they’re those odd looking edges at the top and bottom of the piece you have, sort of raggy looking.
*We accept all sizes of blankets. We donate to children, infants through teen years, so any size is appropriate. Baby blankets are typically 36”X36” or 36”X42”, toddler-pre-teen are typically about 40”X60”, and teen blankets are at least 60"X72".

Blankets can be dropped off in the entry way of Hadley Hall.

Thank you for your support of this project!
