HARC Interfaith Progressive Dinner - September 21 (Ticket Deadline 9/17)

Saturday, September 21, 5:00 - 9:00 pm

Congregation B'Nai Abraham, Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, and Islamic Society of Western Maryland


To honor the International Day of Peace, an Interfaith Progressive Dinner will be held at three different local houses of worship with four faith traditions participating. Small plates of food will be served at each location as they progressively move as one group from place to place. This is an opportunity to: Learn about different faith traditions; Sample spiritually and culturally relevant foods; celebrate the International Day of Peace; and build community. Cost: $25 per person. Event is limited to a maximum of 100 people. Ticket deadline is September 17 (unless sold out sooner). See the full event schedule and purchase tickets from the event page.

Part Time Church Secretary Needed

Haven Lutheran Church (Hagerstown, MD) is seeking part time Church Secretary to work M-F, 9 –1 flexible, 20-hour week. Professional demeanor, necessary as the first point of contact with all visiting and contacting church office. Self-motivated, attentive to details, organized, and flexible. Having computer skills a must. Responsible for the daily running of Church office will include answering phone, taking messages, routing them, preparation of Sunday worship bulletins, monthly newsletter, and additional correspondence needs for the church office. Weekly tasks include computer system management, maintaining the church website and Facebook page. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Experience with Power Church and Ignite a plus. Church Administrative Assistant Needed

Hebron Mennonite Church (Hagerstown, MD) is looking for an administrative assistant to work 10-12 hours a week. Responsibilities include designing weekly bulletins, sending church emails, and taking minutes at select meetings. Position could start as early as September 9. See full position description. Girls on the Run Volunteer Coaches Needed

Girls on the Run inspires girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths while building a sense of connection and confidence. They are seeking volunteer coaches who facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skills development to create opportunities for joyful movement and meaningful connections. Teams (elementary and middle school) meet twice per week over an 8- to 10-week season. At the end of the season, the team completes a celebratory 5K event, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset in motion. They are currently seeking volunteers to help as coaches in Washington County - particularly in Hagerstown at Bester Elementary, Pangborn Elementary, Hickory Elementary, Lincolnshire Elementary, and Eastern Elementary. Volunteers Needed for 100-Bed Build - September 14

Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP)-Hagerstown is doing a bed build as part of Bunks Across America. You are invited to participate, bring your friends, and spread the word. This is their biggest build ever - 100 beds, so 150 volunteers are needed. Any and all helping hands aged 12 and up are welcome, and this could count as student community service hours. Lowes is sponsoring all the lumber, providing lots of help, the parking lot, and lunch! Please sign up HERE.

Roots & Stones - An Afternoon in the Cemetery - September 14

Join in on an annual afternoon of fun and fellowship at Halfway African American Cemetery. There will be special tours, a silent auction, door prizes, light food, drinks, and more! Visit with cemetery descendants, historians, and their board of directors. Some 400 Black Hagerstonians were buried at Halfway between 1897 and 1932. You are invited to help restore and preserve this historic African American cemetery by attending or supporting this special event. Rain date is the following afternoon, Sunday, Sept. 15, same time.
