Evelyn Perl, who has qualified for the IHSA State Girls Swimming meet for the third consecutive year! She will represent H-F in the 500M Freestyle this weekend at Evanston H.S. The Viking team overall finished in 3rd Place at IHSA Sectionals last weekend; additional Sectional results were:

Special Schedule Next Week for Thanksgiving
Earlier this semester we proudly announced that H-F had been selected as a
2018 Special Olympics National Unified Champion Banner School, meaning that we are being recognized as a school with an inclusive climate that exudes a sense of collaboration, engagement and respect for all members of the student body and staff.
Now it is time to raise the banner! On Wednesday, Nov. 21, we will be playing a special VTV episode in our classrooms that showcases our students and staff, including the banner presentation, at 12:30 p.m. This is a special week already with the Thanksgiving holiday! Please see the academic schedule below:

Voyage to Excellence Open House: Nov. 28
Are there 8th Graders at your home or on your block? Be sure to remind them to join us for
Voyage to Excellence on Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the H-F Fieldhouse! Booths from H-F's academic departments, clubs, sports and activities will be set up throughout the Fieldhouse, so incoming students can find out more and how to get involved. Impromptu performances by the Viking Marching Band, Drumline and Viking Choir — plus visits by ZooBot animals — will keep the evening interesting and entertaining. Please join us for this special night!

Illinois Art Educators Association

Last Tuesday, students from

class traveled to Graceland Cemetery in Chicago to take data on male and female death rates before 1900 (historic) and after 1970 (modern). With this data, they calculated the mortality rate, survivorship and life expectancy. Students also had the opportunity to collaborate with
Dr. Klimas
’ lab class at
DePaul U.
, then shared their calculations with their full class at H-F later in the week.

Congratulations to the H-F Scholastic Bowl Team for a strong start on its SWSC season. The Varsity team — coached by
