Gulfstar Elbow tuna fishing Report
Written by Capt Mike
The 7 hour ride offshore to the Elbow was calm and the fisherman enthusiasm was off the chart.
Everybody was excited to go tug on some hard fighting Blackfin tuna. On the first night of fishing, a steady bite gave us 5 landed Tuna and some break offs too, some King Mackerel, a bunch of Mangrove snapper, with loads of Porgies and B-liners.
The next morning brought out some big Amberjack that had to be released as the season opens in a few more days. Keeper Scamp grouper and lots of future keeper Red Grouper were in the days picky bite.
The second night produced bigger and better Mango's, all kinds of Jacks, bigger B-liners, one or two more Tuna and a really nice trophy sized Mutton snapper. A herd of hard pulling African Pompano at daybreak gave our arm weary anglers some battles that I'm sure they won't soon forget.
