2021
Year in Review
The Group Concept Mapping Community
In 2021, CSI clients published over 150 peer-reviewed articles and papers using the Group Concept Mapping methodology. Congratulations to each of you! The CSI team is proud to play a part in contributing to our clients' work and helping you have a meaningful impact on the lives of your participants. You can see from the publications keyword cloud below that the methodology continues to be used broadly.
In the year ahead, CSI will continue to showcase your work in our Publication Spotlight emails and on our website and social media. We will be investing in new outlets to make GCM studies readily available to the research community. Updates to follow!
Global GCM

2021 was a year of impact around the world. Group Concept Mapping had wide representation across disciplines, communities, and continents. GCM studies spanned 5 continents and 20 countries. Studies included subject areas such as public health, youth engagement, and equitable access to employment. Group Concept Mapping was used to create public education strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it was applied to engage a higher education community in developing a Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion strategic plan.
GCM Training in 2021

CSI's Getting to Know GCM introductory webinar is our most popular GCM training. People join us for the orientation to GCM because they are curious about the methodology, and some of our clients come to a session as a refresher for experienced GCM users. The free one-hour webinar attracted hundreds of participants in 2021 from 24 countries on 6 continents (come on Antarctica!).

In 2019, we began converting our in-person core GCM training GCM Design and Practice (GCM D&P) to a live, interactive, and engaging online course. When the pandemic hit in 2020, we were able quickly to adapt the new web-based GCM D&P course to reach global participants. It has been well received: we enjoyed teaching 32 students that inaugural year and a record 43 in 2021. It is always exciting to greet our diverse student cohorts. Last year trainees hailed from 10 states in the US as well as from Australia, China, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

For 2022, we are looking at ways to expand our training programs to teach even more people in more ways!
