Eco Corner from Jenn Cameron

April 22, 2023 is the 53rd Earth Day! The establishment of Earth Day was originally intended to raise environmental awareness and promote environmental actions here in America. Since the establishment of Earth Day in 1970 it has become an international movement that drives positive action for the planet. The following is a partial list of current Earth Day campaigns in the U.S. and across the globe:

- The Canopy Project improves our shared environment by planting trees.

- The End Plastic Pollution campaign helps people understand the impacts of plastic pollution and how everyday actions can lessen the problem.

- Climate and Environmental Literacy focuses on education, job creation, developing green consumer markets, and promoting civic engagement to address climate change.

On April 22nd people across the world will raise their collective awareness and perhaps even engage in local and global actions meant to improve and protect our Earth for everyone. YAY Planet Earth!

Ride Lake County  Pace Bus Service

Ride Lake County is a borderless countywide paratransit service that provides seniors age 60+ and people with disabilities transportation to any area of Lake County for work, shopping, medical appointments and more.

As a reservation-based program, vehicles do not travel on a fixed route each day. Riders schedule their trips in advance and the vehicles provide curb-to-curb service from the rider's desired pick-up and drop-off destinations. Ride Lake County is a shared-ride service, so vehicles may make stops for other passengers.
