Investment with a passion for Conservation – Ian Poynton talks about Mahenye Charitable Trust

Interested in the sustainability and community empowerment surrounding Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge's investment in the pristine wilderness bordering Gonarezhou National Park? Beyond the financial commitment, Ian Poynton, one of the lodge's directors, poured his heart and soul into this venture, driven by an unwavering passion to uplift the local community and enhance educational opportunities.

In 2012, the establishment of the Mahenye Charitable Trust (MCT) became one of the cornerstones of this operation. Fueled primarily by personal donations, MCT has successfully championed a scholarship program, supported the local clinic, cultivated community gardens, and contributed to the maintenance of various school buildings in the region.

This video provides a firsthand glimpse into the tangible results of the projects. Chilo Safari Lodge stands as a beacon of conservation-led safari experiences, where every quiet investment resonates with the heartbeat of the community.
