Autumn's arrival on our New Concord campus has brought a stunning change of leaves and seasons, exciting news for our future, and continued celebrations of Muskie accomplishments.

Following a nationwide search, Muskingum has selected Dr. Nancy J. Evangelista as the
University's first provost
. She will serve as the chief academic affairs and student affairs officer for the University beginning in January 2018. Dr. Evangelista is currently Associate Provost and Dean of the College of Professional Studies at Alfred University in Alfred, New York.

MAJOR DINING HALL RENOVATION PLANS UNVEILED
Patton Dining Hall, the largest dining space on campus, is slated for a
top-to-bottom redesign
including new food stations and meal options and expanded comfortable gathering spaces. The renovation plans were inspired by student feedback and the revamped hall will open in fall 2018.

HOMECOMING 2017: LIVING THE LEGACY
On October 13-14, 2017, Muskies gathered on campus to celebrate Homecoming festivities including the Varsity Revue,
Muskie Fun Run, Alumni Social, and Reunion celebrations for the Classes of 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012, and 2017. The
annual Collage Concert featured the jazz and wind ensembles, choirs, and more.
Five new members were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame
at halftime of the Homecoming football game against Baldwin Wallace. Congratulations to:

During the annual M Club Breakfast, Athletic Director Larry Shank
announced he will retire
at the en
d of the current academic year, after 16 years leading the Fighting Muskies and more than 40 years of service to intercollegiate athletics. Congratulations, Larry, and thank you for all that you have done for Muskingum!

The Muskingum Forensics Team is off to a great start in their competition season. Senior Jaliah Oglesby took first place in Open Poetry during the University of Kentucky tournament and first place in Open Programmed Oral interpretation during the "Heart of it All" Ohio Forensics Association tournament at John Carroll University. Every member of the team brought home an award in each event they entered during the John Carroll Tournament.
Muskingum was well-represented at the recent National Forum to Advance Rural Education sponsored by the national non-profit organization Batelle for Kids. Professor of Education Rae White and Senior Director of Admission Beth DaLonzo served on a panel alongside Batelle for Kids representatives, and our eight Ohio Appalachian Teacher Fellows attended the conference and supported the panel session.

Associate Professor of Business Gary Golden began a weekly column for Inc. magazine this fall. His
first article
featured Muskie student entrepreneurial company Jennings Java.

Our new Living Library program kicked off in early October when Jim Heacock '70, former Ohio State football coach, was available at the Library for "checkout" by our current Muskies! Jim visited with multiple small groups of students, sharing his career experiences and life lessons. The Living Library program will continue each month to connect our students directly with alumni from a broad range of careers and backgrounds.
