Beach Days

Yes, we have beaches in Vermont! As a matter of fact, the Northeast Kingdom is home to more bodies of water than any other part of the State! If you're looking for a place to cool off, throw sticks for the dog, go for a paddle or go fishing, this is the place to be!

The Passumpsic River runs right through East Burke Village so if you need to cool off after a day on the trails just pop on in and enjoy the flowing water. Easy access is conveniently located right behind Clementine's Creamery so it's one stop shopping to enjoy a cone and a dip.

Just about a 15 minute drive from East Burke is Island Pond, the town and the lake. You can park and access the water at Lakeside Park where there is a sandy beach, play area, exercise equipment and even a set up for human foosball!

Not far from Island Pond is Brighton State Beach which is located along the shores of Spectacle Pond. It's a nicely tucked away spot to enjoy a family beach day or stay for some camping.

If you're looking for a paddling adventure or want to rent a boat, check out Clyde River Recreation for rentals and self guided tours along the meandering river.

Of course, nothing beats Lake Willoughby for a refreshing dip in glacial waters. You'll find beaches at the southern and northern ends of the lake.

One of the most rewarding places to take a dip is that secret watering hole that you discover on your own while out cruising around. Just don't tell anyone about it!
