Snow Time!

Winter has just begun and there's white stuff on the ground already. The lifts are spinning and trails are almost ready for Nordic treks and winter biking journeys. Snowmobile trails open mid-month, conditions permitting. It's time to visit Burke for fun in the snow and holiday gatherings.

Things to do


There are lots of events happening this month to celebrate the season. In Lyndonville, the holiday fun happens December 2nd with a visit from Santa, the Burklyn Arts Holiday Craft Fair and Polar Express Train Rides. Santa will arrive via wagon ride for his Annual Visit to West Burke Village on December 10th and later that day, folks gather in East Burke Village for a Tree Lighting and Holiday Party.

If you're looking for lodging close to trails and slopes, there are lots of great choices in and around Burke.


Adventurer's Home is a new vacation rental located right in East Burke Village so it's easy access to snowmobile trails and just a quick drive to Nordic trails and ski lifts. There's room for 8 in the 3 bedroom, pet friendly home.


Rock Garden Rentals offers ten cabins located just minutes from the village and all offer direct access to snowmobile trails. All the cabins have a full kitchen and secure storage for bikes, skis and other winter gear. Premier cabins even have a whole house back-up generator just in case of a power outage.


Located next door to the slopes of Burke on Mountain Road, Wilderness Properties is a great place to stay for a group ski trip and it's pet friendly. The home sleeps up to ten people with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a spacious kitchen. Amenities include a washer/dryer, Smart TV, WiFi and more.

For great and unique gift ideas, think Burke! The NEK Country Store is loaded with locally made gifts including specialty foods, hand-knit items, crafts and more.


Down the road, the walls and shelves of Cafe Lotti are adorned with paintings, photographs, pottery, soaps, wood carvings and other hand-made gifts.


For the skiers and bikers on your list, check out East Burke Sports and Village Sport Shop for winter gear including top name skis, fat bikes and more. And, of course, you need at least one Skida hat.
