Two local organizations were recognized for their commitments to sustainability:
- Earth Friendly Products of Addison, known for cleaning products of the same name as well as ECOS cleaners, was awarded the Earth Flag by SCARCE and DuPage County.
- The DuPage Water Commission was one of only two water utilities to receive a national award from the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies.

Do you deep fry a turkey for Thanksgiving? If you do
any sort of holiday frying, be sure to recycle your used cooking oil at a convenient drop-off location.
|
|
As you pull out those holiday decorations, don't forget to set aside your broken holiday lights to be recycled. SCARCE offers year-round holiday light recycling and many communities offer a free seasonal drop off site. This year, we are excited to have Bensenville and Wood Dale join the effort! Stay tuned for a full list of participating sites.
It's not too late to start a free collection at your school, church, or village hall.

For the first time, Energy Star has certified home water heaters. So when yours goes kaput, you can replace it with a much more energy efficient model or even go tankless. And of course, be sure to recycle your old water heater for scrap metal.
