Garden Market Grows!
This year's Growin' Green Garden Market was bigger than ever, still a little wet, but also LOADS of fun.

The market offered a variety of goods and services -- including a vendor who sharpened 55 garden tools!

Thanks to all the businesses, nonprofit organizations, volunteers, and friends who helped make the event a success.

The Monarch butterflies are arriving at DuPage County! Learn how to use iNaturalist and connect with nature on June 1, 6:30 pm, at St. James Farm Forest Preserve.

Deep Roots
Family Environmental Program
Saturday, June 3 10:30am
Join us in our education center for a special performance of Deep Roots! The program features singer/songwriter Louise Kelly as "Eagle" and our very own SCARCE educator Jean Kent as "Owl".

This is an interactive musical that teaches children ages K-3rd grade about prairie plants and animals through song and dance!

STEM-A-PALOOZA at the DuPage County Fair

Save the date because STEM-A-PALOOZA is BACK! Hands-on, science activities and eco-crafts that bring out the fun in Science Technology Engineering and Math. The STEM-A-PALOOZA is air-conditioned and indoors, so don't let the weather keep you away!

Finally ready to venture out into the world again? SCARCE is always interested in how communities in other places handle their recycling.

Whether you are traveling to another town, state or country--snap a photo and show us how people around the world recycle!

SCARCE Open House
Thursday, June 15 between 9am and 1pm
Visit us to learn about our resources and services for the community. Green team members will find out how their organizations can adopt more earth-friendly practices. Educators will discover books, supplies, and programs that help their students. Residents will see how we reuse and recycle so many of their household items.

The Open House is free and no registration required.
Just drop in and we will give you a tour!

National Pollinator Week - June 19-25, 2023
It's time to raise awareness and support pollinator health! Learn how you can help this critical and endangered element of our ecosystem. Host a garden tour, add pollinator plants to your garden or join an online bee & butterfly identification workshop -- there are lots of way to get involved!

Neighbors can get together at the Spring Avenue Rec Center in Glen Ellyn to discuss local green happenings and participate in these events:

Free 45min Family-friendly outdoor yoga (BYO mat)

Native Pollinator seedling sale

Compost Workshop, in partnership with the Glen Ellyn Park District and SCARCE (fee-based, register here)

Enjoy coffee provided by Go Green Glen Ellyn (please bring your own mug). Also BYO bucket for free compost!

Whether you are looking to help for a few times over the summer or make a difference all year long, SCARCE has volunteer opportunities for you!

On weekdays, you can help with environmental projects at our facility in the morning (9am-noon) or afternoon (1-4pm). We also have ongoing special projects and group opportunities, so contact rose@scarce.org to learn how you can get involved.
