PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Shawn Wills
Dear Friends,

Happy New Year and new decade! I am truly honored and humbled to serve as your Greater Dallas AFP Chapter president, and am thrilled to kick off the 2020s with you.

I have been a member of this chapter for nearly 15 years, and throughout this time I have connected with many of you, whether that’s been serving alongside you on the board, working together in the community, or just leaning on one another for friendship and support. AFP has been an extremely important and rewarding part of my career, and a valuable resource for me over the years. And for those whom I have yet to meet, I look forward to connecting with you and working alongside you as we navigate this new decade of fundraising and leadership.

As we enter our 41st year, I am most excited to partner with you to strengthen our chapter, boost membership, and provide you with important, relevant programming along with development and training on issues you care about, and those that will help you in your careers. I firmly believe we can achieve these goals by embracing innovation and by developing a culture where diversity and inclusion is a critical part of our strategy — not because it’s “trendy,” but because it just makes sense.

And that fits right in with our first luncheon of the year featuring Nichole Franks, Director of Equity and Inclusion at Alcuin School in Dallas. In her presentation, Building an Equity and Inclusion Foundation Starting with Our Experiences , Nichole affirms that without changing who we are, we can't learn to value differences among others by viewing our own professional and personal experiences through the lenses of equity and inclusion. Register here for what promises to be a very insightful luncheon on January 22!

In closing, I want to give a big TEXAS-SIZE thank you to the incredible accomplishments of the 2019 Greater Dallas AFP board and committee members, led by Jan Murfield . It has been a joy to serve alongside you and I am forever blessed by your friendship and counsel. The commitment and leadership of this board has laid a strong foundation for our success.

Wishing you all the best this new decade and beyond, and looking forward to exciting programs, professional development and networking opportunities.

Very best regards,

Shawn Wills, CFRE
President, Greater Dallas AFP
