A New Year to Celebrate Life

The more years we live, the more wisdom and perspective we have to see life in new and beautiful ways. When we look in the mirror and see wrinkles and grey hair, we need to remember - it IS a gift to be alive.

Many of us fear growing older for physical reasons. Aging is often seen as a loss of control. Maybe our bodies aren’t able to do what they once could; our memories aren’t as sharp; we begin to need more help than we used to. As the years pass, our fear of the unknown may grow stronger.

Truth is, we’ve never been in control! From the moment we were created - whether we realized it or not - we’ve relied on our Creator for every breath. Growing older helps us shed the illusion of control and to rest in the promises of our loving God. Whether we’re 9 or 90, God vows to be with us every step of the way

"I will be the same until your old age, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will bear and rescue you." (Isaiah 46:4 CSB)

Cherish your laugh lines, remember how they were created.

Advent Worship & Fellowship

Thanks to Pastor Dan Luett and Becky Bryant Luett for leading us in worship during the 4 Wednesday Advent worship services.

Congregation members from Grace, Trinity, Zion and FIrst English served up tasty lunches for our tenants complete with soup from Old Glory Cafe. Special thanks to Gwen Schwandt for applying for a Thrivent Action Team grant to support a great opportunity for our tenants to join in fellowship.

Staying FIT at Linwood!

Tenants and guests gather 3 times a week for exercise and Tai Chi classes. Guests of all ages are welcome to join the fun!

VIP Volunteers

Thanks to volunteers from Christ the King Lutheran Church in Combined Locks for painting our underground garage. It was a pleasure to have these dedicated servants support our community.

Christmas

We had many opportunities to celebrate Christmas at Linwood. Thanks to Thrivent members Jake Czarnik-Neimeyer (our Board Chair) and Jeff Rusch for applying for Action Team grants to support social events for our tenants.

  • Mike Yelk for escorting Santa and his reindeer helper to Linwood Community.
  • The students from St Mary's school in Greenville for the handmade Christmas cards.
  • Elizabeth Smongenski and friends for personal care packages for our tenants.
