From Director Bradley Cooper, Maestro is the towering and fearless love story chronicling the lifelong relationship between conductor-composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife, actress Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. A love letter to life and art, Maestro, at its core, is an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love. Starring Academy Award Nominee Carey Mulligan and Academy Award Nominee Bradley Cooper.

We will gather at a member’s home to watch and discuss this 2023 biographical film. RSVP here or email programs@ncjwlongbeach.org and we'll send you the location. Again, we'll meet at 6:45 pm, and please bring a potluck dish to share with 5 people. We had such a good time last month over dinner, we decided to do it again!

Beyond Roe: Intersection of Abortion Access, Economic Justice, and Religious Liberty

Sunday, January 28, 5 pm, NCJW|LA location and virtually

NCJW|LA is thrilled to invite you to join us on Sunday, January 28, at 5 pm for our Beyond Roe Event. This event aims to explore the intersectionality of abortion access, economic justice, and religious liberty.

Through open and honest discussions hosted and facilitated by event participants, we will delve into the ongoing challenges following the overturn of Roe v. Wade in June 2022 and the constant attacks on abortion access across the nation. Our focus will be on understanding the implications of abortion restrictions on economic barriers, cycles of poverty, and the denial of economic mobility. Additionally, we'll examine the complexities of the First Amendment, emphasizing protecting religious freedom and upholding individual rights. We look forward to fostering impactful conversations on these critical issues.

Event Highlights:

  • Emcee: Gabrielle Brown, Black Women for Wellness Los Angeles
  • Keynote Speaker: Rabbi Mira Rivera
  • Intimate conversations in smaller groups
  •  A newly curated Toolkit to help hosts facilitate small-group conversations

If you want to attend in LA, you'll find the details at Beyond Roe 2024 .
