We are also going social this month and launching the new press forum web printing discussion page. I have recieved several requests and lots of interest in having a site for printers to go to so they can communicate with other printers in each area of the printing industry. Whether its problems with specific areas of the print process, printing press, bindery, Inline Finishing, or even requests of where to get experienced operators that fit your needs or even possbile print jobs that might be a better fit for one company than the other. The main reason for the site is so people can ask questions at any time of the day or night with the good chance of getting a answer within a few minutes of the question. I remember being a supervisor on night shift and having issues with a few different jobs that could have easily been resolved if I had a funtion like this to help settle me down and guide me through the possible solutions that I may have very easily over looked. The other beneficial use for this site is finding out what equipment works and what equipment doesn't, what equipment you need to run a particular product, or what tricks you can try that might resolve a print issue. We all experience problems in this industry. There is no question that the printing industry has taken a beating in many ways including the experience of some of our operators. The great thing about this site is going to be that Supervisors can help each other out around the world that may have faced the same problem or problems that you may be currently having at 3am on a Tuesday night. This site will give the experts of the industry the ability to help the new comers or the people that may have a ton of experience but maybe not on that particular application or in that particular field of the industry. It will give everyone a chance to ask questions and give answers as long as you are a member. There is no charge for the members. We want to use this to improve our industry, and improve our skills by reducing un necessary waste or downtime that might be able to be resolved by just asking a simple question. You can also tweet your questions and answers if you prefer. Sometimes its hard to get back to the computer in between problems in the press room so luckly technology has given us all the tools we need to interact with all of our friends working the same hours as you are.

To get this started I am going to send out emails to everyone in my database and give you the opportunity to send it to all the people in your data base and so on and so forth. I strongly believe within 30 days we will have a strong following of people that are willing to give help as well as people that may need help. I am extremely excited to see how this will give everyone much more confidence, better production numbers, create stronger relationships between companies, and less stress and more job security for those that get involved. I really think this will in some way benefit us all as long as you know how to use a computer. There will also be ways to see job openings around the world, information on plant liquidations, equipment for sale, and In addition, we will make this grow because of the social share bar. This will appear on the left side of the email. You can forward your email to your friends, tweet the email to their Twitter followers, or "Like" your email to share it with your Facebook friends. This helps get the word out beyond the mailing list and gets us out there quicker so we can start sharing our knowledge to benefit us all and help strengthen our industry.
