Milwaukee Public Theatre recently received a major grant from the Wisconsin Humanities Council to produce and tour From the Start Consider the Finish. This original musical play helps families begin the often difficult conversation about end-of-life planning.
Presented in partnership with Voices Theater, the play tells real-life stories about planning and hospice decisions in a statewide tour of ten venues in September and October, including performances at UW Milwaukee and the Medical College of Wisconsin. The play is written and adapted by Rogers Keene from an award-winning book, The End of Life Advisor, by Susan Dolan and Audrey Vizzard. MPT's summer tour of FLOW: The Traveling Water Circus engaged 1,000 youth at six youth agency sites in learning about fresh water conservation. The tour of FLOW was produced under a 2011-12 grant from the Wisconsin Environmental Education Board (WEEB), resulting in free shows at these host sites: Daniels-Mardak Boys & Girls Club, Fitzsimonds Boys & Girls Club, North Division Boys & Girls Club, Audubon Boys & Girls Club, COA Goldin Center and Lincoln Avenue Boys & Girls Club. FLOW was first produced in April 2011 at Lincoln Center for the Arts with support from A.O. Smith Corporation and Veolia Water Milwaukee. READ MORE. |
