Every year Oliverβs Funeral Home hosts a Celebrate Canada Barbecue in support of a local charity. This year we will be raising funds for the Grande Prairie Palliative Care Society. Their mission is to maintain and support end-of-life care for community members with a terminal illness and provide support for their families.
Their volunteers are trained in Friendly Visitation, Meal Time Assistance, Helping Hands (for household-type duties), Vigil Care, and Pen Pal program.They also provide an iPad program that supports people who are lonely or isolated, a Sheepskin program that is for physical care, comfort care bags that are filled with items to help people, and one-time financial help to those who are struggling. None of these vital programs are possible without the support of the community.
At Oliverβs Funeral Home, we see the impact of the important work that they do daily and are grateful for this opportunity to support them.

The 5th Annual Grande Prairie Pow Wow will be held from Friday, June 21st, evening to Sunday, June 23rd, afternoon in the Bonnetts and Bowes Centre in downtown Grande Prairie, Alberta. This event will include an Indigenous Market and the annual Hand Games Tournament.
This event is FREE to attend and open to everyone.
The Pow Wow will have intertribal dances, which anyone can dance in, with no regalia required.
Shop at the Indigenous Market; all wares are crafted on Turtle Island. Check out our new Tattoo Trail and learn the history of tattoos for Indigenous people on this land.
Come and watch Northern Style Hand Games and learn how to play. Hand Games are a traditional game here in this land; anyone can learn how to play and participate. Teams are made up of 8 people and must pay a $500 entry fee per team. Anyone who knows how to play is welcome to enter a team. There will be a grand prize, and all entry fees will go back to the winners of the tournament.

For the last 27 years, The Grande Prairie Ski Club (o/a: Nitehawk) has been bringing people together to laugh at our Annual Comedy Nite Fundraiser. With that being said, our 28th annual Comedy Nite Fundraiser which will be held on September 21 2024 will do just that and more!
We know the importance outdoor recreation plays in our physical and mental well-being, now more than ever, and we are committed to continuing to be a hub for outdoor activity & recreation in the Grande Prairie Region.

The Grande Prairie Rotary Clubs and local businesses are creating meaningful jobs for individuals with intellectual disabilities through Inclusion Albertaβs Rotary Employment Partnership.
Albertans with intellectual disabilities experience an unemployment rate of more than 70%. The Rotary Employment Partnership is creating life-changing job opportunities while providing an untapped labour market to Albertaβs business community.
The partnership has created over 800 jobs to date in areas such as food service, administration, labour and everything in between

The Sand Zone is an inclusive employer through the Rotary Employment Partnership. The Sand Zone is a fun place to take your kids for some fun in the sand, some beach volleyball, or a great place to have a party.
Kaylee was hired by the Sand Zone in July 2023 to assist with youth summer programs. Kaylee planned activities for the youth and assisted the program coordinator to ensure the youth had fun in a high-quality program. As summer ended, Kaylee moved into a receptionist position, answering phones, handling drop-in fees, welcoming people into The Sand Zone and other administrative duties as required. The Sand Zone has gained a skilled, reliable, and friendly team member.
