Grand Opening Celebration at the old eli's location

Joins us Friday, 4/21 at 5 PM for a ribbon cutting and celebration

Welcome Mama Janet's Kitchen

Meet Janet Rocio Alvarez, founder, chef, wife, mother, and grandmother. Janet and husband David were born in Mexico and have lived in Utah for 17 years. They fell in love with this amazing building everyone around here knows as “eli’s” and "The Vault".

Janet has dreamed of opening a restaurant since she was a little girl. Her dream was to create a space where people are welcome to socialize, interact, have fun, and have full bellies by the time they leave.

We bring our love for food to this new restaurant. In a Latino home, the kitchen is the heart of the household. Our family's love is put into each dish. We’ll serve amazing tortas, drinks, and of course your favorite ice cream each day. Look for special treats on Fridays and Saturdays! Our dream is for this historic building to be filled again with great food and happiness all the time. We’re excited to meet you and serve our delicious food. We hope you will come and enjoy the smiles and good times at Mama Janet’s Kitchen!

Utah has the best economic outlook in America: report

Utah has a robust economy that is likely to improve in the future, according to the newly-released Rich States, Poor States report from the ALEC-Laffer State Economic Competitive Index. While Utah ranked second in the country in economic performance from 2011 to 2021, according to the report, it ranked first in economic outlook.

“The ultimate success story of Rich States, Poor States is Utah, which has ranked first in Economic Outlook for every edition,” the report said. “How has Utah been able to hold the top spot for 14 consecutive years? The answer is really twofold. Major free-market and pro-taxpayer policy reforms in recent years have been essential to the success of Utah. Additionally, the continued commitment by leading policymakers to study Utah’s economic resume and stay ahead of the curve has also been crucial to Utah’s longstanding success.”

Be sure to report any flooding IMMEDIATELY!

Payson City Flood Information

Saturday morning, April 22 at 9:00 a.m. Payson City will be holding a second sandbag filling event. Volunteers are asked to bring a shovel and gloves when they come to help fill sandbags at the old ball field parking lot, located at 712 South 800 West.

Utah has received much rain and snow this year, which is helpful to meet our water needs; however, with the high amounts of rain and snow there is a potential of flooding from run-off. Payson City is proactively preparing for the run-off and is working to mitigate any potential flooding. In an effort to keep residents informed and prepared, please review the information and resources below.

Santaquin City High Water Runoff Situation

What is Santaquin City doing?

Santaquin City along with the flood committee members are carefully watching our beautiful snow-covered mountains above the City. As you may know, we have received record-breaking snow pack that has accumulated over the winter.

We anticipate that spring run-off will be extreme. City staff and flood committee members are diligently preparing for possible rain and run-off water. City crews have been identifying potential threats and possible flooding areas. We have also been tracking all available information and will continue to identify potential critical areas of concern.
