For more than 50 years our family has tended our vineyards and grown our own grapes, for our wines, along the lush banks of the Sacramento River. We are striving to perfect the art and science of grape growing, and we’re proud to share the rewards of our labor by creating wines that showcase distinctive grapes perfectly. Bridging all aspects of our Winery from the Vineyard, to the Cellar, Winery Grounds,Tasting Room and beyond.

The 2022 Symphony has been released!

Written by Winemaker, David Shattuck

We are very excited to release our recently bottled 2022 Symphony. This wine has been a favorite in the tasting room because of the enticing aromas and flavors, along with the versatility of this wine.

We frequently sell out of symphony by mid summer because the wine is so versatile in its use. I really like this wine as an aperitif over ice with sparkling water. It also pairs well with a variety of southern asian dishes from thailand or malaysia including mushroom larb, Mee goreng mamak, and whole roasted snapper with ginger paste.

The 2022 Symphony pours a delightful pale yellow. The initial aromas are pineapple, passionfruit, jasmine blossom, and star anise. The mouthfeel is clean with a delightful acidity to offset the rich floral nature of the wine. The finish has a prolonged sense of grapefruit, linalool, and coriander seed.

Some really great events coming up soon!

Written by Tasting Room Manager, Tess Jonson

On February 18th from 1-4pm GIV will be kicking off their 2023 event season with WINE and CHOCOLATE and MUSIC!

Join us for an afternoon of 60’s and 70’s music preformed by one of our own members, Ken Peterson, while grazing the chocolate fondue bar and sipping on some of our amazing wines. You don’t want to miss out on this one so reserve those seats before they’re gone.

Our favorite, Kim Mack, is back! And she’s here to teach us how to make an amazing and versatile cheese, MOZZARELLA! Get your seat and in two hours you will learn the tools and have the knowledge to make your own mozzarella at home in 30-40 minutes.

Grand Island Vineyards is open Friday-Monday, 10-5pm with many options for seating. Make your reservations today!

Weather is better and we have power!

Written by Operations Manager, Joe Salman

The waters have subsided! The rain is more hit and miss. We have power! As these are great reasons for you to come to Grand Island Vineyards, it also means work in the field is finally progressing. Mostly pruning as stated back in December. If a field is dry enough we come through with this machine: Berm sweep and brush shredder.

This leaves a fine mulch of grape prunings in the row middles that becomes good soil organic matter.

As always Grand Island Vineyards is a living working farm, vineyard and winery, and in many of our wine's cases (excuse the pun) the grapes were grown, harvested, fermented, bottled and consumed all in a very close proximity.
