Juneteenth

Juneteenth is a national federal holiday in the United States commemorating the end of African American slavery on June 19, 1865. Many people consider Juneteenth to be a “second Independence Day” for the country. While uncertainty and struggle continued through the post-emancipation period, today, Juneteenth represents freedom, justice, hope, and a celebration of African American culture and achievements. National Indigenous History Month

National Indigenous History Month represents a time of reflection and learning as Canadians are provided with opportunities to honor and recognize the diverse cultures, languages, histories, and traditions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. National Indigenous Peoples Day is celebrated on June 21 and provides an additional opportunity to celebrate Indigenous cultures. Learn more here.
