GRACE NOTES
August 17 - 24, 2021
Returning with Grace Update

At Sunday's meeting, the Council voted to return to requiring masks for everyone who comes into the Grace building, regardless of vaccination status. Council also voted to refrain from indoor Sunday School for children under 12 for the time being.

It is our hope that this will allow us to continue moving forward with programming while continuing to keep one another safe.

Ice Cream Social
Thanks to Parish Life for hosting the Ice Cream Social this past Sunday! The ice cream was delicious and the company was fantastic! It was wonderful to see so many Grace family members and to share in fellowship!

From the Director of Music
I am excited to start Grace ensembles very soon! If you are musically minded, I invite you to sing in one of our ensembles. Grace Alone meets on Monday evenings at 7:20 starting August 23; this group leads every week in the 8:30 service. Parish Choir meets on Wednesday evenings starting August 25; this ensemble sings in the 11:00 service. If you enjoy singing, I hope you will consider joining us!
You may have noticed some new hymns in the past few weeks. We have been introducing hymns from our new hymnal supplement, All Creation Sings. I have been blessed with the rich texts in this resource. Here is one hymn that I am meditating on this week:

Come to the Water of Life

All who are thirsty for mercy, all who are thirsty for love;
All who are thirsty for love, for mercy, come: come to the Water of life.

All who are thirsty for healing, all who are thirsty for touch;
All who are thirsty for touch, for healing, come: come to the Water of life.

All who are thirsty for beauty, all who are thirsty for truth;
All who are thirsty for truth, for beauty, come: come to the Water of life.

All who are thirsty for justice, all who are thirsty for peace;
All who are thirsty for peace, for justice, come: come to the Water of life.

Have a wonderful week,
JM

FALL ADULT BIBLE STUDY
This fall the Adult’s Bible Study will focus on the Book of Galatians. This was one of Martin Luther’s favorite books of the Bible. The bible study comes from a company called Kerygma. To find more information about this study click here.
Contact Bob Wasserman at 803.415.4449 or bobwass7@gmail.com about your decision to join this class. There will not be a charge for the book unless you desire to purchase your own copy and write notes in the book. We will discuss this in our first class. - Regards, Bob Wasserman
UPDATE: Good Samaritan Fund

Are you in need? How about someone you know? At the June meeting, Council voted to allocate the undesignated memorial funds from 2020 to the Good Samaritan Fund, with the intention that the funds might offer help to members of Grace who could use a little financial assistance. As one member of Council put it, "We need to help the helpers and not try to pour from an empty cup. Hopefully these resources can help with that."

To request assistance from this fund, please contact either of the pastors. All assistance is confidential.
Automated External Defibrillator
Our second Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is in the office area. The AED is used in the event of a cardiac arrest to “restart” the heart. Please familiarize yourself of its location. We also have an AED in the Narthex.
The AEDs will provide rapid accessibility to emergency equipment for groups and activities that meet in this building. Grace Lutheran is blessed to have healthcare workers that are trained to use the AED. If you, your family, groups, or classes would like to have the CPR and AED training please feel free to contact Dr. Rick Richter or Frances Stockley.
