Dear Friend,

Thank you for the opportunity to share with you, on a monthly basis, a glimpse of what is happening at People's Place. 

We continually strive to be a support network for all residents of Ulster County, and I am so happy to share with you that our new lift is almost complete. This lift will allow all members of our community to access our Wellness Empowerment Center. 

As always, we continue to grow and meet the needs of our neighbors and welcome any suggestions, input and support you may be able to share.

PROGRAMMING

Farm Stand Tuesday will operate every Tuesday morning through October, rain or shine, from 9:00am - 11:00am in the People's Place Parking Lot.

Please bring your own bags!

On Tuesday, May 7th and Tuesday, May 14th, Styles & Smiles' will be open for business from 9:00am - 11:00am in the People's Place parking lot- alongside the farm stand. Styles & Smiles is a People's Place program, providing free haircuts. A big thank you to Janice Stanley Avery of Mirror Mirror Hair Studio for helping to create and launch this program. Haircuts will be first come first serve.

APRIL HIGHLIGHT

SOUND & REST/90 Minutes Sound Meditation w/May Lin Le Goff

"Follow the Sound" offers an immersive guided auditory journey designed to invite the body and mind into a state of rest and contemplation.



About The Event:

The invitation during this sound meditation is to engage in active listening. Through this practice, one can learn to focus the mind by tuning into the distance between sounds, the intervals between musical notes, and silence. These create an explorative space for one’s inner world.

The sound meditation compromises of light breathwork, visualization, vocal tuning, and a sonic experience with overtone emitting instruments such as kalimbas, chimes and singing bowls.

These modalities affect our brainwave cycles, neurochemistry, autonomic nervous system, heart-rate variability, and subtle energy in the body - all designed to invite the body and mind into a state of rest and contemplation.

May Lin Le Goff is the founder of Sound & Rest, a Reiki & sound meditation practice based in Kingston, New York. May Lin is an Usui Reiki III & Earth Evolution Reiki Certified practitioner, having been attuned by the "Reiki Godmothers" Aki Hirata-Baker and Manu Del Prete, the visionary founders of the radical MINKA Mystery School in New York.

FUNDRAISER!

People’s Place is turning to the road warriors of our community to help achieve food security with our first ever People’s Place Rally Ride. The 2024 First Annual People’s Place Rally Ride is our Spring kickoff fundraising event for motorcycle riders across the Hudson Valley to rally together and take to the road to help feed people on Sunday, May 5th. The Rally Ride will be a 1.5-hour ride through the scenic Catskills that will culminate into a BBQ celebration complete with catered food brought to participating riders and event guests by Castaways Bar & Grill at Bridge View Marina and featuring live music by Heavy Gauge plus an exclusive raffle drawing for all pre-registered riders and other raffle drawings day of Rally Ride.

• Tickets for participating riders $25, and their guest passenger $20
