September Services

September services will take place online on Zoom

and in-person in the sanctuary at 10:30 a.m.

September 3rd - Labor Day Weekend - No Service

September 10th - Ingathering Water Service - Rev. Caro Barschow

Each time we gather, we gather anew. Ingathering service is a recommitment to our community and an acknowledgement of what has changed us in the summer months. We reconvene at this end of summer, pouring water - symbolizing the vibrant energy of the summer season - into one vessel. Come share in this ritual and come share in this community, as we prepare ourselves for the turn of season and deepening into church life. If you wish, you may bring a container of water from home or travel.

September 17th - Deep Breath - Rev. Caro Barschow

Welcoming breath into the body anchors contemplative and transformative practices across religions. Medical research indicates focused breathing lowers an individual’s stress and improves overall health. What happens when people breathe together? This service explores how breath can deepen our relationships.

September 24th - Welcoming Guest Minister - Rev. Dr. Danielle Di Bona

Sunday Strolls

Now that I have freed up my NSUU duties a bit, I would like to start Sunday Strolls on September 10 and run them until Thanksgiving. I need volunteers to lead the walks and I am reaching out to you folks first.

Stroll Leaders:

·      Pick a favorite place – especially one you’ve been to recently - to go for a 1½-2 hour stroll.

·      Pick a meeting place.

·      Consider parking, bugs, path smoothness, grades, water hazards,

·      Establish whether there are parking restrictions,

·      Establish dog-friendliness of the place,

·      Work with the me to get the information out to the congregation.

So, please contact me at bobferris1949@gmail.com or by calling him at 978-660-7437 if you would like to lead a stroll or if you know others to whom I should reach out.

Hal Morse will be coordinating the potluck and welcoming reception by the congregation for both Caro and Ethan on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 11:30 AM.  If you would like to volunteer with set-up and clean-up, please reply to HalMorse7@msn.com

Danvers Citizens Academy

Join Rev. Caro to take part in Danvers Citizens Academy, a 10-week, up close view of local government - get to know town service department leaders, go on field trips around town and connect with neighbors. A great way for church members to build personal relationships in Danvers, and understand community needs that can inform our outreach and social action work. The Citizens Academy meets Thursday evenings starting Sept 14th. Applications are due ASAP. Intended for Danvers residents, but open to non-residents. Childcare is available. Accessible meeting spaces. For more info and a link to the application form, go to https://www.danversma.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=119
