Family and Youth Summer Pool Parties

Once again, the Boyne Family has graciously offered to host two pool parties at their Five Points home this summer, one for families with young children and one for the EYC. This summer tradition is a perfect opportunity for our young people to build relationships with one another and for their parents to make connections with other CGS families.

The Kids Pool party will be held on July 21, 4-6 PM.

The EYC Pool party will be held on August 4, 5:30-7:30 PM.

Don't miss these two wonderful evenings of swimming, fellowship, and fun at Jack and Nan Boyne's gorgeous private pool and patio. Contact: Rev. Justin (859.630.2835)

Update on the PLC's Key Fob Entry System

Earlier this year, we completed the installation of an electronic key fob system for the outer doors of the Parish Life Center. Ministry leaders can expect to receive an email soon from David Baggett inviting them to pick up their key fobs. If you have not received an email by July 15th and are involved in a ministry that necessitates key fob access to the Parish Life Center, please email David. We plan to have the Parish Life Center rekeyed this coming fall.

Don’t “Retreat” from Sunday Fellowship Time!

Seeking: one or more persons to host Sunday Fellowship Time Sunday July 14. Many folks will be away at the Good Shepherd beach retreat, so this is a great opportunity to tryout being a host for a smaller group.

Thanking: the wonderful folks who signed up for all the other summer slots. Special accolades to Esther Hall and committee who planned the August 11 150th celebration at Raleigh City Museum - no snacks at church that day.

Looking ahead: Most Sundays need a Fellowship Time host in September and October. Contact Grace Sved (919.247.6426) for more information.

Parish Finances

Avoiding the Dreaded Summer Slump

Churches often experience a 20% drop in giving during the summer, making it challenging to maintain a healthy budget. Vacations/staycations/a break from the business of life is highly encouraged and good for the soul. Kindly consider the option of recurring and/or online giving to ease the giving gap. Power bills, outreach support, and salaries continue to be paid, and regular cash flow keeps operating The Church of the Good Shepherd steady during the summer months. If you need help setting up a payment plan please contact our Parish Administrator, David Baggett (919.831.2018)for this easy option. Enjoy your time away and thank you for ensuring the important work of our parish continues.

PLEASE CLICK HERE for a budget update (through May 31st). Thank you for your faithful financial support of our church and our ministries.

Episcopal Youth Community

EYC Open House

On the evenings of Saturday, July 6 and 26, we will host our very first EYC Open Houses. Our new and improved youth room will be open from 7-10 PM, and all EYC members and their friends are warmly invited to come play video games and watch movies on the big screen; play cards, foosball, and ping pong; or just hang out and listen to music. The room is yours.

The EYC Open House will not only provide our teens an opportunity to spend quality time

together, they’ll also give parents a free evening downtown.

While outside friends are always welcome to join us for EYC events, we are specifically

encouraging our young people to invite their school and neighborhood friends to attend these

Open House events. They present the perfect opportunity to introduce someone new to our

space and our program.

Looking Ahead...

  • July 6 - EYC Open House (7-10 PM)
  • July 26 - EYC Open House 7-10 PM)
  • Aug 4 - Pool Party at the Boyne's (5:30-7:30 PM)
