Mission Statement

We will be the body of Christ in our Community by Connecting with God, Growing in Discipleship, and Serving the World.

Next Sermon for April 14th

Oak Grove Church Family....

We are pleased to announce that Noah Sutton has been added to the Oak Grove ministry staff as Youth Ministry Coordinator. Noah has been a part of Youth Ministry for several years at Oak Grove, starting as a youth in 6th grade through high school graduation. He was a long-time member of Youth Council and served as Youth Council Co-Chair before leaving for college at Oklahoma. Noah returned to Chesapeake after completing his graduate degree at George Mason and currently is a teaching assistant at Norfolk Academy.

The youth already know Noah well as he has been co-leading Sunday morning Senior High Sunday School and Sunday evening youth Small Group for the past year.  Noah will continue in these roles and will take on additional duties including youth communications, assisting the Youth Director in event planning and coordination, outreach, and in curriculum selection and development.

For years Oak Grove has supported a strong youth ministry and has a dedicated team of adult volunteers focused on providing guidance and leadership to our teenagers on their faith journey. We believe that adding Noah to our Youth Ministry staff will help us meet the spiritual needs of our youth and further grow this ministry as Oak Grove itself grows.

Dear Friends –

Recently, after much prayer and reflection, I began to share information about a trip to the Holy Lands that I am scheduled to lead in February of 2025.

This is the trip originally planned for this February, which was automatically rescheduled to next year at the same time because of the ongoing war in Gaza.

One of the main reasons I was comfortable moving forward with planning this trip is how well EO handled rescheduling the trip from this year. Everyone who had financially committed to traveling in February 2024 received their money back.  Overall, my experience with EO throughout the process of cancelling and rescheduling the trip was good, which leads me to believe if we need to cancel again in 2025 it will be handled professional and well.

I will be having an interest meeting on Sunday, April 28th at 4pm in the conference room. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact me via email (pastoramanda@oakgroveumc.org).

Please continue to pray with me for our neighbors all throughout the world in prayer who face war and violence.

Peace & Blessings,

Amanda

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to those who came and served in children's ministry and made the Easter carnival such a special time for the children. What a joy it was to see our children’s wing full of laughter, smiles, and celebration.

I am also excited to announce that we will be hosting a "Pack the Piggies" fundraiser on Sunday, April 21st. Decorative piggy banks will be placed near the library. Feel free to drop coins in the banks. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards updates to the Oak Grove library.

Thank you for your continued support and generosity!

Blessings,

Mandy
