Good News Family & Friends,

If you've got kids in school, you know how crazy the month of May can be, but we're almost to the finish line! We'd love to recognize all of our graduates this Sunday, so if you have a high school or college graduate, let Laura know at or 770-364-4143.

Good News At Noon" Homeless Ministry - THIS Saturday, May 18 (11am - 1pm)

Good News at Noon is a local homeless ministry in the Gainesville area where we serve monthly by helping to serve lunch on the 3rd Saturday each month. This is a fantastic family serving opportunity! For more information or if you'd like to join us, be sure to register here. NOTE: The start time is now 11am. We will also be serving lunch at the homeless shelter across the street from Good News at Noon, so there's plenty of need for volunteers.

If you'd like to access the sermon audio, slides, and notes from this past week or previous weeks, click here. See announcements and happenings below.

Make plans to join us for breakfast, connection, and worship this Sunday (10am) at Monkey Wrench Brewing. We'll be celebrating graduates, so be sure to let us know if you have a high school or college graduate to celebrate. Bring a breakfast item to share (optional), bring the kids (nursery and children's ministry are provided), and bring the dog!

For all events listed here, see details in the announcements below.

NEW! THIS Summer "Basics of Faith" Dinner & Discussion for Teens (adults, too)!

We're offering this 6 session, dinner and discussion, on Wednesdays at Hillside (6:30pm - 8:30pm). It's geared towards teens, but parents and adults are also invited. Topics will include: and HOw can I know the Bible is true? Who is God? Who are we? What happened that broke our relationship with God? How can we get back into relationship with God? What does it look like to follow Jesus? We'll also invite people from our church and community to come share about their faith journey and how they came into relationship with Christ. This will be fun and interactive, so if you're interested, email Drue.

NEW! "The Chosen" Small Group THIS Summer!

We're gauging interest to see if and who might be interested in a fun, casual evening twice a month watching and discussing the series, The Chosen. We'll meet at our Hillside Retreat House on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, most likely from 7pm - 8:30pm. If interested, email Kevin & Suzanne Ward.

Quotes of the Week

“Kid, you’ll move mountains! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So get on your way!” - Dr. Suess (from "Oh, the Places You'll Go!")

Verse of the Week

"My son, do not forget my teaching,  but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years  and bring you peace and prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you;  bind them around your neck,  write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name  in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart  and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,  and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes;  fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body  and nourishment to your bones." - Proverbs 3:1-8

The vision of Good News Church GA is "to experience and express LOVE from God to others." The verse that undergirds our vision is Galatians 5:5b, “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” We value people, community, relationships, prayer, and Bible reading. We also value being able to be yourself. We’re all struggling with something, so there’s no need to pretend that we have it all together.

The mission of Good News Church GA is "to connect with people and build relationships through community workshops, neighborhood-focused ministry, serving local needs, mentoring, and worship."

We've been emphasizing the importance (and fun) of mining for gold (i.e., spending time each day digging into God's Word and discovering the nugget(s) of gold that He has waiting for us. Here are a few of my most recommended resources. NOTE: If you're not much of a reader, many of these resources have audio listening options and/or downloadable audio books.

If you'd like to make a contribution the ministry of Good News Church GA, we would be grateful for your support!
