Volunteer for Tour de Cure
You’re invited to help change lives through a cycling event that will include some of the most iconic locations here in the West Valley.
With more than 34 million Americans living with diabetes, and many more who have gone undiagnosed, the time is now to join us in the fight for a cure. The Tour de Cure will bring together cyclists and volunteers for a one-of-a-kind cycling event that will raise critical funds to support the mission of the American Diabetes Association to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
The Tour de Cure: Arizona 56 ride was so popular that it’s coming back to Goodyear in March of 2023! The ride starts and finishes at Goodyear Ballpark and offers distances for all abilities: 5.6 miles, 23 miles or 56 miles. Click here to read more about the event, which raises funds for the American Diabetes Association.
If riding isn’t your thing but you’d like to volunteer for the Tour de Cure ride, the American Diabetes Association needs 450 volunteers to help with the event. In addition to the ride, there will be a farmers’ market, a kids’ zone, food, entertainment, health related advocacy and information, vendors, cooking demonstrations, a walking tour of the ballpark and so much more!
Steps to register to volunteer:

There's a New Way to Ride
Goodyear has launched a pilot program for a microtransit service called We RIDE.
The one-year pilot program, is a ridesharing service that allows passengers to request a ride on demand through a mobile app. A Chrysler Pacifica minivan takes passengers to and from fixed points within a designated zone.
Customers select a pickup and drop-off point on the We RIDE mobile app. The app will display the most convenient route to their destination. After the customer confirms and pays for their trip in the app, they are directed to a nearby pick-up location known as a virtual stop. If their pickup is in a neighborhood, the virtual stop may be at the customer’s community mailbox or at a nearby side street. The app notifies customers when their driver is near, how much longer it will be before the driver arrives, and when the driver arrives.
Unlike Uber and Lyft, drivers are hired by First Transit, a national company. We RIDE vehicles are ADA friendly, can seat up to five passengers, and all vehicles have bike racks. Children under 5-years of age and/or under 65 pounds will need to ride in a car seat provided by and secured by the accompanying adult. The minimum age to use the service is 16-years old.
Service is Monday-Friday, from 7am – 7pm, excluding major government holidays. The fare is $2 per trip, however all rides are free in December. Seniors over the age of 60, veterans, disabled, and students currently registered at Estrella Mountain Community College and Franklin Pierce University pay a reduced fare of $1 (and must provide ID upon boarding). Customers can also pay cash for their trip on board the vehicle as long as it is exact fare.
